Im at a crossroads. I like the Imaginext stuff and I like the Lego stuff. Lego has more characters tho.
LEGO -green army guys x 4 -Buzz -Woody -Jesse -Stinky Pete -Bullseye -Chunk -Twitch -Lotso -Stretch -Sparks -Little Green Men/Aliens -Hamm/Evil Dr Porkchop -RC -Zerg -Rex -Dump Truck driver
Imaginext -Woody -Bullseye -Buzz -Lotso -Yellow rock thing/Chunk -Sparks -Aliens/Little Green men - the evil Dr Porkchop -Rex
The Imaginext were cheaper and I figured I might augment the sets with smaller TOY STORY figures/figurines. I like the Imaginext, its more toyesque but the greater variety of characters is leaning toward Lego. Although I will admit, FP is getting the characters in fast, I didnt expect to see anything like this. I bought 3 small character packs and got Buzz and Woody with Bullseye and 3 villains-Lotso, Yellow Rock thing and Sparks. Should I just shelve it and hit the Lego? I think the small Disney figurine packs would also work well with the Imaginext, I dont know, Im a bit confused. Spending $$$ on Lego and get variety of characters vs Saving $$$ WITH MORE Toy Story looking characters that could mesh with other small figure/figurine lines.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

Of the two you mentioned I'd go with Imaginext. Less stuff to lose. But if I was really choosing I'd go with the Buddies/Action League stuff.

Lego all the way. Superior toys and you can later use the parts to custom almost anything you want later.

Just found more Buddies from the new movie coming out. I checked Bo Peep next to an Imaginext and they were almost equal size. I gotta say, Im loving the variety, just not that big 10$ price tag for two small figures. I can see 10$ for a 3 pack but for 2 small figures with no articulation? Even the SW Galactic Heroes are more reasonably priced. I like the Lego, but Im keeping my OTC all Lego, the new stuff coming out is great and the old stuff is still really cool as well. As far as my choice goes, Im going to mix the Buddy Packs with the Imaginext. Just wish Buzz had a dome, Im sure I can find something from a gumball machine or thrift store.
I was thinking that the Imaginext Shuttle might make a better ship for Buzz. The moon rover/van is actually kinda cool. What's great is that the Imaginext playsets and vehicles are all scaled close enough that I can customize if need be, now if they would only come out with a small pizza truck, I might be set.

While I always loved Legos as a kid, Imaginext seems to be my son's favorite. All the lines are interchangeable, well designed and constructed and make for some fun set ups.
I'd go with those.
But as much fun as I am having with Action League, I would buy into the Buddies myself...

Realize that the new Buddy line for toy story 3- the figures now are actually in scale with the other lines (the generic Toy Story buddy line previously released (in the blue) are much smaller
The new Woody is about 30% larger than the first line and it makes it look alot better-- Id say in the previous line- a few too many of them are just a little too small and seem way out of scale--(I didnt mind picking them up on clearance for 1.74- but they seemed to cheap for full price..) THe newer versions seem like Im getting a little more for my money.

My Target had them on clearance but they are long gone. Maybe if you have a Target that doesn't sell their clearance very fast you might find a few gems.

One of my Walmarts had some of the older stuff, picked up
Jessie and 3 crazy critters Bo Peep and her sheep Wheezy and strong arm (make a muscle) Woody
The first TS1/TS2 waves have alot of characters than I would have expected but that's the beauty of TS series, characters galore.
Also found Etch a sketch w/WOODY Etch a sketch w/Buzz 2 Army men and Woody
Im hoping to find Lenny the binoculars and Rocky Gibraltar. These buddy packs should be 5$ or 4.79$, then they would sell. Im hoping to get more TS3 but Ill wait till Target has a sale, they usually do right when the movie comes out or just after. In the meantime, Ill just hunt down the old stuff.
Etch a sketch Mr Speak and Spell-htf Robot and Snake-htf Stinky Pete-htf Green army men Shark w/woody hat-htf Little Green Men Slinky Dog
If anybody comes across any of these, please lmk. Walmart has them for 6.50$
Thanks

You may want to take one last past around your targets-- they were clearance to 1.74 there-- thats about what they are worth with that undersized woody in there..

I also would say the 3rd option of the buddy packs. I really enjoy Marvel's SHS and DC's Action League, and I've been looking at the Toy Story buddy packs since they came out--but I decided long ago to ignore them. I'm not a huge Toy Story fan, and I didn't need another line, or more stuff, or less money. I was able to stick to this plan until I saw Lotso in the TRU 7-pack. He's too cool and he just sucked me in. Here's my three favorite ones (Bullseye, Mr. Pricklepants, and Lotso): And here's a comparison pic for Woody between the first waves of these and the current stuff (Buzz is also bigger now, but Jessie seems to be the same size, so as far as I can tell, Woody and Buzz are the only two they upscaled):

I totally have to get Mr. Pricklepants to fight my Action League Batman. He's too funny.

Just an FYI, you can get all of the TS3 characters ie Lotso and the gang at the DISNEY STORE for $19.50, I think it has 12 characters plus Buzz and Woody and the sculpts are more show accurate. And Mr Pricklepants is there too.

It looks as though I've stumbled onto this thread a little late TRISTAN wrote: Other figures sold seperately are thru the TOY STORY BUDDY PACKS

Babyface with erector spider legs (from that mean kid's room) Roller Bob Ducky and Head Hand in the Box Mr and Mrs Potato Head Bucket O Soldiers.--a whole squad. The ones I put in bold were not ever made in Mattel's Buddy Packs line. The TRU exclusive Lotso's Gang 7 pack that was mentioned earlier is indeed a great way to avoid having duplicate Woody and Buzz in this line.
