here" another new twist on the Minifigure fiasco at my local TRU.

First, the recap:

THey had them in stock, kept at the customer service desk limiting purchases per person per day. Grr.

That was too much of a hassle for them and they put out 4 cases on an endcap on Thursday. Yay

Friday, they realized they had lost over 2 cases to theft (they were finding empty wrappers scattered around the store behind random other toys). Took the remaining figures back off the shelf and locked them in the managers office.

and now, the new twist ...

Starting Sat. you can approach a manager and buy the figures, going immediately to the register to pay for your purchase of just the minifigures. Then you are free to shop the rest of the store as you see fit.

I know this from my own observations and a former co-worker and friend who is now "rapidly" moving up the TRU ladder and is going to meet me at the store this afternoon to help me get the last few figures I need for my set.

This really isn't worth the hassle anymore and although I really want to collect the line, I might just have to get out now before it gets any worse.

I noticed there are plenty of sellers on ebay that are offering up complete sets at semi-decent pricing (about $4 per figure breakdown is average) so I just might end up going that route and cutting out all the hassle and headache of chasing these down. Too bad that its going down this way.

Series 3 only has a handful that I want.

series 2 had a ton, and I want ALL of series 4, so yeah.

might even order an entire box of series 4, just so I don't have to hassle with it.

loving the Monsters, Sports characters, and Historical costume guys.

but my favorite from series 3 is the Gorilla suit guy.

I love that the Gorilla Suit Guy's head is all "sweaty" when you take the gorilla mask off.

What an awesome touch that really makes a difference.

After today's trip back to the TRU fiasco
I picked up 3 more figures.

Now I am down to only needing the Street Punk, the Cyborg, and the Mummy.

I'm gonna go back in tomorrow and hopefully be able to score the rest of the set.

If not, I'm just going to have to see if anyone puts any up for trade or ebay them after the holidays. Oy.

Saw these at my TRU this past weekend.

Let me rephrase that:

I saw the torn empty remains of the box that held series three.

Who knew Lego fans were like the Hot Wheels guys? Lego Maniac, indeed.

Stopped by TRU this weekend and the boxes were all gone, and the remaining packs were hanging on pegs at the aisles end. Thought I might grab a few to help out others, dang those dots are a pain. I'll post the ones I ended with in the Swap Meet.

Found 3 partial cases of these in the Lego aisle at the Walmart by my folks house. They are a $1 at Walmart than at TRU.

I dug through with my cheat sheet and came up with a bunch more.

I still need the Cyborg, the gorilla, the hula girl and the mummy.

I've ended up with doubles of the samurai and the rapper.

Finally got myself to a TRU to get some series 3. I had to feel each package in a whole box and half to get what I wanted but Im super happy with what I found.

Space Villain
Mummy
Samurai Warrior

I got the few that I really wanted, especially the space villain cyborg he's one of the coolest of them. This is mostly because he has the cool old school blacktron logo on his chest!

I also picked up set 30005 star wars imperial speeder, I know its not part of the minifigure line, but I was lucky to find him in an unlikely place, and Ive never seen him before. and for 3.99 I was super stoked about it.

all I really want now is an elf!

I went to a different TRU a little farther away. They had their minifigs behind the counter.. I only had to check two bags and found my elf! I have all I wanted from Series 3, except maybe the baseball player, but I dont want to search for it.

I've really fallen in love with these. Thanks to the "braille" bump guide I was able to get the figures I really wanted, the Cyborg and the Mummy. I grabbed a couple each completely at random for the Christmas stockings and they were the hit of Christmas morning with my wife and daughter. My wife -- a HUGE Orlando Bloom fan -- got the Elf and said, "Look, I got LEGOlas!! Get it??? LEGO-las??"

Well, I thought it was pretty funny.

Can't wait for series 4. I hope they have another guide to cut down on dupes; I really want to get the Viking, Frankenstein, and the guy in the orange radiation suit!!!

I hope they get rid of the identification system altogether, these are supposed to be RANDOM!

Random is great for those to whom it has some appeal, but I personally don't have the money to drop on a lot of duplicates or on unwanted figures. And I'm not much of a trader; never had much luck trying to swap for what I wanted because too many others (A) also wanted what I want and (B) had no desire for what I was offering. Different strokes, potato-potahto, I guess. I like the "braille" bumps -- you really have to WANT to use them, and for those who want the thrill of the random figure, well, you can just go for it. Me, I don't want to wade through five ice skaters in order to get my terrified radiation suit guy! ;)
