Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the new Trio sets are out. I spotted the Batcave, Batcopter, and Joker vehicle at my local TRU. Packaging doesn't make any mention of other sets in the series, but if you examine the pics closely it looks like there will be Penguin and Mr. Freeze sets as well as other Bat vehicles coming shortly. I also seem to remember there being a Superman set in the pics from Toy Fair.
Prices are comparable (but slightly less than) an equivolent Lego set.
Anybody in on these?

They were just in front of the Lego stuff, on the flipside of the Playmobil figures and playsets. Not sure how your store is set up but the layout should be similar.
Also, I forgot to mention that all Trio sets are currently "Buy One, Get One Half-Off". Wasn't sure it would apply to the DC sets but it came up in the scanner as being on sale.

Quinn wrote: Nnnnnghh...they just seem so weak compared to either Imaginext or LEGO... For the Building aspect of the sets I agree with you. It's chunky and a bit loose. My 2year old nephew loves them though as they are easier for him to manipulate than Duplo (they don't stick together nearly as much). I haven't actually opened a "theme" kit so I haven't seen any instruction sheets but I would think that the building process would be identical to Duplo more so than an older child's Lego set. What i like about the sets is the character design. There is just something very appealing to me about the chunky, squatty figures that go with these sets. The Fireman, the Police Officers, the English Knights, and now the DC Superfriends just have a wonderful quirkiness to them that I can't find in any other toy line. My son is a bit on the fence about buying these so I might just visit ebay for the figures themselves and leave the sets behind, but then again, building the batmobile and batcave to go with these is half the fun ... ... Once I plunk down some cash I will let you know in a mini-/semi- review what I think of them out of the box.

...I'd just like to see DCU done in a format that will be around for a while. I see Trio as an experiment that Mattel/FP is pushing right now, but I don't see it around in 5 years. Or even 3. I look forward to your reviews, but we can't get on board with it.

I think these will be on clearance before the year is out.
Just give the DCU license to Lego. I bet they'd make an awesome Justice League HQ. Not to mention a Fortress of Solitude, Oa, Atlantis (Aquaman version, I know they have their homegrown version), Invisible Jet, Titan's Tower, Watchtower, etc.

I regret to this day not buying the C3 set with the Javelin. Minimates got me the Flash, but J'onn is forever lost in the wastelands.

Now that the resets are in various stages of completion, the Trio building sets are available at Target as well.
I saw the Batcave, Batplane, Joker Mech, Superman mini set, Penguin mini set, and Mr. Freeze mini set.
Prices are comparable between TRU and Target so I'll wait for a sale or coupon (there was one for $5 off floating around earlier but I can't find it now) before buying in to the line.

Got back from Target earlier. The resets are done with all the DC Superfriends stuff right next to JLU and BATB.
