There is a rumor there might be an intermission. That sounds like a very good idea.

I agree. It gives my 60 year old bladder a much needed break.

I think Gettysburg, in 1993, had an intermission. That's the last one I remember.

When I saw Gandhi (1982) and Reds (1980) there was an intermission. I don't think Schindler's List or Titanic had one.

Anyway, I'm in favor of any movie over two and a half hours long having an intermission.

Avengers: Endgame Tracking to Break Infinity War’s Weekend Record

By ComingSoon

February 28, 2019

With only two months left to go until the highly-anticipated premiere of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, Collider reports that the upcoming film is already on track to earn a whopping $282 million when it debuts on April 26. Should the numbers hold, Endgame would be setting a new opening weekend record by breaking Infinity War‘s previous record of $258 million.

According to Jeff Block, senior analyst of Researcher Exhibitor Relations, one of the factors that could only change the numbers would be the film’s potential total running time of 3 hours. However, the Russo Brothers said that the audiences at test screenings don’t seem to mind the extended run time for Endgame, with no one getting up during the film the first three times they showed the movie.

Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26.

Marvel Studios Releases the Avengers: Endgame Synopsis

SuperHeroHype

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

With Avengers: Endgame just over a month away, we’re starting to learn more about what’s probably going to be the biggest superhero movie of all time. Anticipation reached a fever pitch last week when Marvel Studios dropped a new trailer and poster for the film. And with a handful of MCU staples rumored to be exiting the shared universe after this, emotions are running high. Now, Marvel and Disney have released their official synopsis for the film. You can check it out for yourself via ComicBook.com below.

“The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.”

As expected, the summary is vague and doesn’t give away any new concrete information about the movie. (It could be worse: the Russo Brothers previously admitted that they considered having no marketing whatsoever). However, the phrases “one final stand” and “grand conclusion” are sure to tug at the heartstrings of anyone who’s followed the MCU from the very beginning. Obviously, life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will go on with films planned for at least the next 10 years. Still, the film may see the departures of flagship characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America. That will leave a void that’s going to be felt long after Endgame’s credits roll.

On the bright side, relatively new MCU additions like Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel have demonstrated themselves capable of carrying the Avengers’ torch into the next decade. Plus, Disney’s recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox presents countless opportunities for exciting tales featuring the X-Men and Fantastic Four. It all depends on how soon Kevin Feige et al. want to get the ball rolling on those new franchises.

Avengers: Endgame rockets into theaters on April 26.

From ComicBookMovie.com:

AVENGERS: ENDGAME - Here's An Update On That Rumored Runtime Along With A New IMAX Featurette

A reliable source has shed some light on what Disney and Marvel Studios has planned for Avengers: Endgame's mammoth runtime, while we also have a very interesting new IMAX featurette. Check it out...

Josh Wilding | 3/28/2019

Over the past week or so, Avengers: Endgame has started being advertised by theater chains as having a three hour, two minute runtime and while that's still not been officially confirmed, we now have more evidence which points to that being the case.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that while 3:02 may not end up being the exact runtime, sources close to Disney have revealed that it's extremely close to what Marvel Studios has planned for the movie. As a result, it being a three-hour epic is looking like a dead cert at this stage.

Interestingly, it's said that the runtime means Disney will have to forfeit one showing a day on any given screen but the studio will make up for that by having Avengers: Endgame play in as many auditoriums as possible within one complex.

Three hour movies have a history of being commercially successful so there's no need to worry.

Avengers: Endgame is also expected to make an impact on IMAX screens and a new featurette has been released which delves into why directors Joe and Anthony Russo chose to shoot the movie with their cameras. Needless to say, it promises to be a must-watch on the giant sized screens.

I'll wait a few weeks or a month until I see this thing, I think. Let it die down a bit. I've been down on the last few Marvel movie offering--including this movie's previous film--and although I'm invested because I've seen the majority of them, I'm not exactly enthusiastic about seeing this. It's not a "Oh, I gotta see this on the 1st weekend" kind of thing for me.

Naturally, I'll have to stay away from different web sites & other news formats, because you know sites & fans will spoil things. I'll probably stay away from Newsarama for a month, at least.

From ComicBookMovie.com:

AVENGERS: ENDGAME Could Debut At The Worldwide Box Office With A Mind-Blowing $800+ Million

Initial BO projections are in for Avengers: Endgame, & it sounds like that early release in China is going to lead to the movie breaking all sorts of records globally.

Josh Wilding | 3/28/2019 | Source: Deadline

As we told you earlier today, Avengers: Endgame will open in China on April 24th, two days before it arrives in North America. As a result, early projections have shifted and the movie's opening at the worldwide box office looks set to be absolutely massive.

It would need to earn over $640.4 million to top Avengers: Infinity War's global debut, and while the lengthier run time could pose a problem, it has an extra day of play in the Middle Kingdom compared to its predecessor. Looking back at that movie's Chinese opening, Endgame should easily surpass $800 million and could even reach as high as $850 million worldwide.

It's still early days, of course, but Disney is planning to get the movie on more screens in the same theaters in order to make up for the three hours it will take to watch it on one.

Either way, Avengers: Endgame is poised to break a huge number of records and definitely stands a chance of becoming one of the highest grossing movies of all-time - even if it fails to reach the same heights as Avatar. Tickets are expected to go on sale next Tuesday, so that will give us a much clearer idea of its domestic opening weekend.

Avengers: Endgame Ticket Sales Already Eclipsing Infinity War

SuperHeroHype

Tuesday, April 02, 2019

In case you missed the news, early ticket sales for Avengers: Endgame are officially underway. And they’re going quick. Early reports suggest that this could be the fastest-selling Marvel Studios release to date.

A report from CBR notes that first ticket sales for Endgame are already setting records- within its first hours alone. Atom, a site popular for online movie ticket reservations, said that the upcoming sequel has already topped Infinity War. It pointed out that it’s received three times ticket sales within the first hour compared to the previous film. It even managed to outpace sales of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which set sales records the year before.

As a result of the heavy traffic from avid moviegoers, some ticket sites have had to set up queues. Fandango has some fans waiting over an hour for their spot to purchase tickets, along with Atom. These were set up after the sites temporarily crashed from heavy user traffic.

As for how many box office records the follow-up will break when it arrives later this month, it’s too soon to tell. But early ticket sales tell quite a story. And the fact they’ve lapped Infinity War is impressive, considering that it made over $2 billion worldwide last year. Now, the question is how high can Endgame climb?

For now, the hype continues to build feverishly, with the film set to start the summer movie season off right. We’ll see how it- and the Avengers- fare when Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26. Marvel Studios also released a new trailer in which Thanos finally appears. You can catch it below.

Endgame Ticket Sales Break First Day Record Set by The Force Awakens

By ComingSoon

April 2, 2019

Following the start of ticket sales this morning, Fandango has announced that Avengers: Endgame has destroyed the competition and set a new record for first day sales in the U.S., breaking the record in the first six hours of sales.

“’Avengers: Endgame’ sales have exceeded all expectations and surpassed ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ the previous record-holder, to become Fandango’s top-selling title in its first 24 hours of sales, and it accomplished that feat in only 6 hours,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis points out. “We’ve never seen anything like this – it’s truly a groundbreaking accomplishment – as fans simply cannot wait to see how this epic saga comes to a close.”

The top five movies by first day pre-sales are now: Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Avengers: Infinity War.

Last year’s Avengers: Infinity War saw the titular superhero team take the fight to Thanos in order to stop his attempt at exterminating half of the universe’s population with the Infinity stones. But it was to no avail, as he was able to successfully collect them all and snap his fingers, wiping out half of all life from existence in a cloud of ash.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, confirmed cast members for the fourth Avengers film so far include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Sean Gunn, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Katherine Langford and Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26.
