On Tuesday, Marvel's Iron Man 3 became Disney's fifth release to cross the $400 million mark at the domestic box office. The film, which has now earned over $1.2 billion and is the #5 film of all time globally, also recently passed Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and is currently the #6 film of all time at the international box office with more than $803 million.

No Marvel One-Shot? That's disappointing. Still getting it though. A must.

Iron Man 3 Tops the National Sales Charts

by SuperHeroHype

October 03, 2013

Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 soared to the top of the national sales charts its first week in stores, reports Home Media Magazine.

Having earned $1.21 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the No. 1 movie of the year, the film debuted in first place on both sales charts - Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert chart that tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales, and Nielsen's dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart.

It did not, however, manage to get the top spot on Home Media Magazine's rental chart for the week ended Sept. 29. Instead, Paramount's World War Z took first there with Iron Man 3 coming in at No. 2.

After debuting in first place on both sales charts, World War Z dropped to second place its second week on both. Star Trek Into Darkness also slipped a spot to third on the sales charts.

Ben Kingsley Teases 'Secret Marvel Project'

by SuperHeroHype

October 22, 2013

It might surprise many of you to learn that Marvel is still in business with Sir Ben Kingsley. He recently confirmed with The Belfast Telegraph that he's working on something else with the company.

"It's a secret Marvel project. I'm not allowed to say any more, you're going to have to wait and see," he said, adding, "I was with many members of the crew that were involved in Iron Man 3. It was lovely to see them again. It was great to be with this wonderful family."

If we were betting people, we'd wager that Marvel will be doing one of their "One-Shot" short films about Kingsley's character from Iron Man 3. Any other theories on what it could be? Sound off below!

Kingsley can be seen next as Mazer Rackham in Gavin Hood's big-screen adaptation of Ender's Game, which hits theaters on November 1st.

Is This Ben Kingsley's Secret Marvel Project?

by SuperHeroHype

October 29, 2013

Warning: Super spoilers for Iron Man 3...

Last week came the reveal that Sir Ben Kingsley has recently shot a "secret project" for Marvel. The actor wouldn't reveal any further details, simply saying "You're going to have to wait and see." Now it seems potential details on the matter may have surfaced.

According to Latino Review, the secret project Kingsley is teasing is the next "Marvel One-Shot" short film. Remember that spoiler warning? Here's where that comes in. LR is reporting that the new One-Shot will have the "real Mandarin" confronting Kingsley's Trevor Slattery over the "mockery" that he and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) turned his legacy into in the events of the third Iron Man film. This remains unconfirmed, but check back for more details on the "secret project" as we learn them.

Update: Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce addressed the rumor, saying: "One thing I know for sure: nobody's going to be apologizing for the Mandarin twist any time soon." The report remains unconfirmed, but now seems to be edging on "unlikely."
