So far, I haven't heard any concrete answer as to why Static might not be possible. Does Dwayne McDuffie not own rights to his characters? I would love to see Static and Hardware. If they are owned by DC, they'll just rot there.

If Static doesn't get made in animated form, then that's a crime. He shouldn't be made 'comic-style' first.
Peace,
Chip

I'm not sure what that means. Are you not involved with the line anymore, or are you trying to keep some secrecy to what you're *really* doing? Peace, Chip

Marvel Legends is a huge success, and the figures are comic accurate, not cartoon or movie based. I don't think a comic based Static figure is out of the question.
Mike (Particularly if it appears in a line called "Legendary COMIC BOOK Heroes")

Just because McDuffie retains the rights to the character, doesn't mean that DC doesn't have some kind of claim to the character that would prevent somebody other than DC to publish/license it. I don't have any specific information because to be honest, I never even tried. I figured once we got a few lines under our belts, we could try and navigate the inevitable minefield...but if he's got sole rights, then why has he never taken it to another publisher?

This is something I've been wondering about. Would MT potentially have access to characters privately owned but published by Marvel or DC? The Spirit, Ex Machina, Kabuki, and Powers are all examples of characters/ liscences that fall in this category that would fit in well with the line. Would it be worth it for MT to try and accuire the right for any of them?
