When I read the DCD boards a lot of the time the diehards there will mention they *really* dislike a lot of articulation in figures. They consider Marvel Legends to be freakish. Go figure.
I think that's a case of the internet favoring the negative. Usually, folks with a gripe tend to be a lot more vocal, and the internet is perfect forum for facelessly venting...
But they still buy the stuff.
And, at SDCC at the DCD Panel a few years back I recall Georg asking if people prefer more articulation or less, and most wanted more (and these were genrally not heavy net users.)
Sometimes I find ML articulation excessive, but in general I prefer more USEFUL articulation to preposed statues.
A good example is the Ross Kingdom Come figures vs. the Ross Justice figures. The Kingdom come figures had less articulation but the sculpts were compromized MORE than the Justice line, due to poor planning.
The hidden ball shoulders on the Justice line is a lot more attractive than the cut shoulders with the huge gap.
Articulation doesn't always mean weaker sculpt and non-articulated doesn't always mean better look.
