I'm sorry your Hawkman's wings broke. I can't get mine to turn at all...at least now I know that I probably shouldn't try to force them.

Just be veeeeeeeery careful.

Perhaps the hair dryer or boiling water tricks might help.

I got Nekron yesterday. He is a great figure, but I think he is too small. While he is about the same height as BL Aquaman, I feel the big bad of Blackest Night should be larger. Hopefully, DCUC will have a C&C Nekron in the future. I mean, is we can get a BL Abin Sur, anything is possible.

Sigh.

Pre-orders can be cancelled. I cancelled mine with BBTS as soon as the DCUC Arkillo was revealed.

Not from Diamond. Or at least not without my LCS guy giving me the evil eye every week.

Got the new BN figures today. I mostly love them.

There seems to be some new articulation at work on the biceps and legs of the figures. Not new in terms of jointing available, but new in terms of how it is engineered and functioning. Which is nice to see.

Nekron is great. I agree he is a bit small, but I'm glad that he isn't massive either.

Hawkman is a damn fine figure but I'm having a hell of a time getting the wings to "snap" into his back holes. The hinge joint is stuck solid, I won't even bother trying to flex it. Otherwise, I like him.

Deadman is a bit of a disappointment as there are NO JOINTS beneath the shoulders! The elbows have them, as do the wrists. But nothing at the waist, nothing at the hips. No knee, no ankle, no mid-thigh. It sucks that he is basically a little plastic statue because the sculpt is superb. At least the base has a flying stand (similar to what was used for OMAC or Firestorm in the previous "event" tie-in toy lines.

Batman is the weak link in the set which is surprising for an A-list character. The face sculpt is awkward. He has his tongue hanging out in a dopey, cartoony way that adds humor instead of horror. His chest is also very odd, overly wide and very thin. It just doesn't look right. His cape is incredible though and I hope to see this very soft, very pliant rubber used for capes from every company in the future.

Overall, I'll give the set a 4 out of 5. A few "attention to detail" things could've put it over the top.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually like that Nekron is on the small side. I like him more as a regular supervillain than some one-time-only dark god.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone didn't have problems with their Hawkman.

Deadman's statuesque form put the kibosh on me buying him. Which is fine, he really didn't fit my Zombie JLA theme anyway.

I'm pretty happy with Batman. His cape really is great. That weirdness around the body is just because he didn't have a full body to reanimate, just a skeleton. Looks a little off compared to the others, but not a dealbreaker.

I bought Nekron on Thursday and had time over the weekend to get his review up at IAT: http://www.itsalltrue.net

On the scale issue, I perused Blackest Night and I think he should be a hair over 7' tall - meaning that if DCD had made him at the height they solicited, he would've been spot on for DCUCs and a little small for DCDs. Since he ended up at 6.75" he still looks good with DCUCs, but I do think he's a bit short if you're putting together a Black Lantern shelf.

After all this, I'm even more annoyed that he's on a C&C list. If he's accurately scaled, he's too small to get the C&C treatment and if he's bigger, he'll be like Lobo and look odd. I'm glad I bought this DCD one just so that I'm safe from whatever Mattel's got going on with him.

My White Lantern Sinestro arrived last week! http://www.itsalltrue.net/?p=9476

All the other Blackest Night figures I was planning on grabbing sound like they're getting done by Mattel at some point, so I'm kinda not sure if I should grab them all or not. Weird if Sin's my last BN figure. :?:

At this point i'm mainly going for the various colored Lanterns. At these prices i'm hoping to eventually pick up all the Black Lanterns on sale at my local shop. Was disapointed with the Black Lantern Aquaman.

If not this month, definitely by January.

I thought DCD wanted them out before Christmas, but who knows.

The new set showed up this past Wednesday at my LCS. I didn't care that much about the set at first, but I actually like them a lot in person. The sculpting is quite nice, and these figures seem a bit more articulated than some of the previous waves'. Also, it seems like they've fixed the wing problem that the BL Hawkman was cursed with; the BL Hawkgirl from this set uses the same wings, but they're much easier to work with. I'm glad DC Direct fixed the issue.

Now I'm annoyed Mattel's going to do these Blackest Night figures, too. :? Bad timing. It seems like a weird competition. That insipid poll Mattel had about DC Direct figures a while ago seems to point to this issue, if you ask me. At least DC Direct's figures possess interesting, new sculpts, as opposed to Mattel's repaint scheme to cop out on cost issues.

Just got Black Lantern Superman and Red Lantern Mera. Does it look like DC Direct is using the same basic body for Black Lantern Superman, Blue Lantern Flash and the Wave 6 Hal Jordan?
