I think I had to order three copies of Green Lantern: Mosaic #1 to get one free promo ring. It was the 90's, too. Variants, ashcans, foil and die-cut covers everywhere...

I talked with my local shop owner last time I was in. If you buy Blackest Night #1 from him, you will get the Black Lantern promo ring. he decided to splurge for the rings. there were also bags. he passed on these. So, if you want one and are concerned, I recommend asking what the situation will be at your LCS.

My comic shop had a promo ring on display yesterday. It looks really cool.

DCBS had the option to preorder a copy with the ring or to order a copy without the ring. Both copies were dicounted but the one without the ring was a little bit less IIRC

I better get one of these. The owner of my local shop didn't know if he was getting them, just like he doesn't know about most things. He said they would be first come, first serve too.
I'm going to call the other nearby shop and see if they'll be getting them on Wednesday.

I'll bet they'll be handing them out at the DC booth this year too (previous years they have handed out GL and Sinestro rings). I'll try to grab a handful.

I have a friend claiming that he got one of these Black Lantern Rings at a comic shop last week. He lives in another city and is prone to .. well.. be dishonest.. but I have no way of verifying it.
Is it possible that any comic shops would have gotten these in a week early?

Yes, it is possible, if you look a few posts up my comic shop received a promo ring last week.

DC and Marvel send out "promotional" materials to stores a week before the actual product gets released. It was one of my favorite parts of working in a Comic Shop. I got to read most titles a week before everyone else!
I wouldn't be surprised if some stores received an advance of a Black Lantern Ring or two (and if they have them they are free to do what ever they want with them) as part of that promotional box.

My LCS didn't get them in today either!
-I have officially become a member of the RED lanterns!-
No explanation at all, they just didn't get any in their shipment.

Geoff Johns is doing a signing today for the release of Blackest Night here in Anaheim, but I'm feeling too much under the weather to make it there.
I'm guessing that every major con this summer will have the rings available.

My awesome girlfriend Abby went to the comic shop for me this morning to get me one of the Black Lantern rings for me since I had to go to work and my shop was only getting 50 of them!
She got one. Did I mention that's she's awesome?
