Just wondered if anyone collected these, and how they liked them. How's the articulation, do they come with any accessories, etc.? I really love the look of these and have wnte to collect them for awhile now, after seeing Lightray, Darksied, Metron and Kalibak, but I just saw a few on Toy's R Us priced at $41.99 (marked down from $59.99??!!). I had NO idea they were that expensive. Anyone know why?

If you are even remotely a fan of Kirby's work then these figures are IN-Friggin-Credible! I can't recommend them enough.

The sculpture and style are a perfect mesh and they truly convey a kirby-esque vibe.

When they were released they were standard DC Direct pricing (in my area that means $16.99 minus my pull discount). Deals are out there to be had but not from places like Amazon or TRU.

The first wave all came with a Mother Box, Darkseid also had a swappable hand/glove, Orion had an alternate Angry head. Every figure comes with a stand. The second wave mostly eliminated the acessories except for Kalibak and Barda's clubs. They still have the stands though.

These figures are on constant display facing off across the room from the DCUC New Gods and have all of the Kirby Omnibi behind them.

Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm a big fan of Jack Kirby and I LOVE the way the scuplt look on these. I'm not too worried about a huge amount of articulation, if it detracts from the sculpt. That's why I prefer DCUC over Marvel Legends..

I have the first wave and have it open. I JUST got the 2nd wave off Ebay for a steal!!! (I think I got all 4 for $20+shipping) But I haven't opened the 2nd set.

There are some good deals to be had for these on Ebay. I've seen carded sets for $30-40

Sorry if I'm dragging up an older thread. I found all of the these figures at a comic shop and got some of them for $8 on a sale day, except for Mr. Miracle (which I got later at a toy show). I saw the over-priced Big Barda on Toys R Us' website, too. From what I've seen, none of the figures are particularly hard to find. The comic shop I go to still has a few of them sitting around.

I really admire the styling that went into them, considering they reuse a lot of parts. I'm a sucker for New Gods merchandise.

I love the New Gods figures. Best artist-inspired line that DCD has done...

It's too bad that they didn't sell. Wave 1 is still pegwarming in my local comic stores. They really needed to follow 'em up with Highfather, Desaad, Black Racer, Red Bikini Barda, or do another Kirby-centric group like Kamandi, 70's Sandman, Demon, etc.

Which leaves room for customs! Here's the first I've done so far (back in the summer):

Got a couple more in mind, in the near future... or as Jack would say--

"THE WORLD THAT'S COMING!!!!!"

Nice custom as always
But more impressive to my eye ...

Where/how did you get all those Action Comics leather bounds?

Is that something you did yourself or do you know someone in the book binding business. I've been thinking about doing that myself to some of my books but those are much more professional a job than I think I could do at this point.

Wow.

Very cool! The custom fits in so nicely with the other figures. Nice touch with the Oberon in there.

I'd kill for a Granny Goodness in that style. :D

Hey, thanks! I forgot about those in the background.

I've had about 85 Superman-related bound volumes (using material from 1964-1993) done by Capitol Bindery in Nebraska, who do the best comics binding, though they are expensive. I've also had 60 other books done at a nearby bindery here in Ontario, much more cheaply, of non-Supes stuff, though they're not nearly as nice as the Capitol work. It's an addictive passion, which I'm a little behind on. PM me if you want more details or pics.

It's funny this thread should come up. Random figures from both waves have been sitting on the shelf at my LCS for ages, and I looked at them today for the first time. Had a fleeting thought of getting Metron to stick in among my Classics, then realized I didn't really want him without the Mobius Chair.

I'm still considering getting a DCD version of Barda one of these days, to replace Mattel's puny offering.

Awesome custom! Love the hair. (and is it just me, or does his face look like Johnny Damon?) lol
