The latest McGuiness-inspired JLA figures are out this week. This series includes:
Hook 'n Beard Aquaman
Cassie Cain Batgirl
Kyle Raynor Green Lantern
Superman Blue
You know, I have all of the previous McGuiness-style figures and that was a big reason for me buying this set, but when I saw them as shipping this week, I admit, I did an, "aw crap! Why did I order these?!?"
Nice figures with some that we will never see from Mattel or in any other format from DC Direct (Batwoman and Superwoman come to mind), but I do not really have any interest in these anymore. Maybe I will if I pull them all out and look at them together...
Anyway, sorry for the sidebar there! These are out tomorrow.

I still want DC and DcDirect to capitolize on the idea behind the JLA Classified comic to give us waves of the Justice League from across their history and styles.
#1. Howard Porter inspired figures from the Morrison/Porter era.
#1 piece = Zauriel in golden eagle armor.
This latest wave of McGuiness figures makes no sense as McGuiness never drew the stories with these characters as members of the JLA.

Excellent.
I have Kyle and Aquaman preordered on BBTS. I'll swing by my LCS to see if they get any in, and if I like them enough, I may just buy them there and cancel the preorders.

I'm in for these figures. I don't care if McGuinness drew them or not (and I understand why that would be a deterrent for some based on the proposal behind this line).

I knew there was a Red Superman and that I didn't own him
I will have to pull these all out and look at them together, as I mentioned above, before I commit to another series (I don't think these have been solicited yet, have they?).
And I need to stop buying stuff that just stays in the box and goes in the attic or basement...

I don't like McGuinness art in books, and i hate the figures based on his work.... That being said. The two aquamen are the favorites in my Aquaman collection. Water hand especially looks like such a tough ass in this style. I don't like the style in the store, but on my shelf i really dig them.

It took DCBS a few weeks to actually send me my figures, giving me hope that they missed my order (no luck) and the late arriving box has been sitting in my house, unopened on the floor.
I finally opened the box and I was pleasantly surprised. Batgirl was the first one that I pulled from the box and the style fits her very well. Bearded Aquaman was well done, especially the beard. Kyle was okay, but he the one from the group that looks fat. Superman Blue's head is kind of long, but it's a decent representation of the character.
I just realized this is the series of misfits, from storylines people couldn't stand (reportedly), versions of characters people did not want. But I liked all these versions of these characters, so it works for me.
I will not be ordering the next series though, with Superman Red, Hal, The Atom and Reverse Flash. I have enjoyed this series overall, but unless I can get them cheap in the secondary market (assuming I don't dump all of mine there), I think I am calling it quits on the McGuiness line, like I have most of DC Direct figures.

Batgirl is crazy awesome. One of the standout figs in the McG line. Aquaman is a great sculpt but I just didn't want another of the same character. Oh well. In the end, this is one of the top lines I've collected for sheer radness of being displayed together. They just look great all lined up.

The Batgirl is really nice. I'll try to post a picture of Superman tonight, but it will be in-package, as I have not opened these.

They look great. Basically am collecting DCUC, JLU, Hot Toys 1/6th, etc..So i really want to cherry pick from this line, as i love McG's style. Kyle is the only character i technically don't have. (Batgirl looks awesome but i have one in the form of Batwoman also the short haired Aquaman and original sups). Will get him soon. Thanks for the pics Dan
