We first saw this seven years ago(!) at SDCC 2004, and the last information we heard was in 2006:


Obviously the DC Direct crew either ran into more issues, or this was pushed further down the priority list (maybe both). With the DC announcement from Sideshow Collectibles yesterday, is it possible that the Helmet of Fate prop will finally see the light of day from the crew at Sideshow? If so, will anyone be able to afford it? I'd love to see this at SDCC!

Out of everything DC Direct has produced in the way of props, this has always interested the most.

If I couldn't afford it then, I'm less likely to do so now, but it would be great to know it's out there.

I've been talking to my friends at DC Direct about this off and on for years! I WANT ONE! It'll go great next to my alan Scott lantern! But they always say the same thing: to get the quality they want, they have to find a factory that'll lower their costs. It's an expensive piece to reproduce with the quality it deserves.

That may not be the answer I want to hear, but it tells me that they are at least showing this piece and the end buyer some respect.

The aren't out to make a quick buck with this. They don't want it out there just for the sake of having it out there. They want to do it, and they want to do it justice.

Kudos to them.

However, I truly wish they would find that less expensive factory real soon.
