As a former LCS Manager, I gotta say, offering their entire catalog of product for sale online is going to be seen as yet another blow to the Direct/Specialty market.

It may increase sales of DC product, and will create an outlet for those that can't or won't get to a local store, but it won't be doing anything to help the current Direct Market.

Come May we'll all know for sure.
Hopefully, along with the new look, new name, and new site, we'll start to see more new merchandise on a regular basis again as well.

Until we find out they are using Digital River as their shipping company

I saw this news earlier today, and it will be quite interesting to see how it affects the products with DC selling it directly. I mean Sideshow, Kotobukiya, Hasbro, TRU, etc. all sell their items directly online, and the Direct Market seems to hold up OK, but I know they rely a lot on DC Direct as well. Time will tell I guess.

Selling items online might come n handy when my comic store sells out of something. So it might be good for collectors. My problem with this announcement is the exclusive offerings. Flashpoint set?? Really? I can't see how that would get most fans excited (isn't that what introductions and announcements for?). Especially realizing that the "unreleased" Aquaman is a simple repaint with no effort spent on him.
I was hoping that DC would improve character selection and offering to make fans really excited but it looks like it's the same old approach as before.
Ah well.

Well they usually advertise their product in Previews mag.I'm not gonna pay shipping if I don't have to,and buy at my LCBS.I wish they would have exclusives also.I always felt that DC direct figures were superior in detail than Mattel.Paint also.
How about an exclusive Gary Frank 6'' Supes figure?I'd gobble that up right now.

I hope they improve in the articulations and the choices they made on characters to release. I too think that Aquaman in the Flashpoint Set is really mediocre, DC Collectibles should at least change the head sculpt.
