With the '07 Convention exclusives hitting the web for sale at pretty decent prices, is there anywhere I can get a Grundy for a similar price range? Every ebay auction always ends in the 50's, which is nuts! Can somebody help me?

I've seen it listed on amazon at the $35 range but I don't know if you would consider that cheap or not ...

I'm in the same boat, MA: I'm willing to pay $30-35, but $50+ is too rich for my blood. I recall hearing that the molds were damaged (can anyone confirm the story?) so we won't see Grundy - that version, anyway - at retail again. Sucks.

I don't think it was damaged. I believe the original mold was 'lost', at least that was the excuse/reason we didn't see it in the JL line. And I'm pretty sure for a limited con exclusive run, they didn't use full fledged steel, so, yea...highly doubtful he will appear at retail. Of course, I could be all wrong in my recollections, so if I am, somebody please correct me.

The molds weren't damaged as much as they were made from copper instead of steel since that was a cheaper method to make a mold for a figure that was going to have an extremely limited run produced. Copper molds are fine for something that's going to just be done as a limited release, but for the numbers needed for a retail order the mold would have to be made from steel to hold up.

I guess there has been a boom in Grundy demand on ebay lately?.
I held off quite a while until prices dropped to a reasonable average $30 and thats where they seemed to stay last I checked. I payed about $32 w/ shipping. I got a second through a trade which I re-ebayed and got $30-35 total for it. I even ultimately bought a variant version for only $60, so $50plus for a regular Grundy at this point seems odd.

E-bay is your best bet. Just keep an eye out for one at a fair price.

Ive been looking for 1 too, ebay varies , no cheaper than 30 delivered it seems. I wouldnt pay much more than that, dont care about variant

I'm glad I didn't wait to get my Grundy last year, I think I paid $35 shipped. I figured with all the convention costs involved (admission, air fare, hotel, etc) it was a good deal. Plus I also got a varient for like $45 shipped. But I imagine if you keep looking something will pop up.

If you don't mind loose figures, they are generally cheaper on Ebay and shipping costs will be lower, too. Keep an eye out... Patience... and all that other stuff...

Keep in mind as you are loking for Grundy that he cost whoever got him originally 20$ at the show. so expect to pay that plus shipping at a minimum.

Since the molds were made to only support a limited run as stated above, don't expect Mattel to make any new ones.

Add me to the guy who got him on ebay for ~$35. He is still one of my favorite figures and I believe he was worth it. Worth it, in the sense that I a) wanted him and b) think it is one of the best sculpted figures in this line. Close to the size of Doomsday, only with much better detail.

If you think $35 is bad, please research the Hal Jordan figure for outrageous cost expectations.

Otherwise, I wish you luck. And by luck, I mean 'cheaper than the $35 I spent' luck.

Not as likely for Grundy--but try misspelling the product too. Sometimes you will find a bargain because no one else can find it so you are the only bidder. Grondy? Grudi? Groundie? Eh--like I say not likely but you never know.
