DCUC FAQ updated Dec 11
Below are questions from AFI, Fwoosh, AFHub, RTM, Hall of Justice, Poe Ghostal, Kastor's Korner, TNI, etc. that Mattel has answered, and also compiled from various Toy Guru interviews. Eric "Cornboy" Mayse of the Four Horsemen has answered a few questions as well, and his responses are included too.
As relevant products are released at retail or no longer needed, I'll remove the question. As new ones are answered, I'll add them. Pretty simple, and this way you don't have to wade thru many-paged threads searching for ToyGuru's posts to get the info you're looking for regarding DCUC.
RELEASE SCHEDULE:
Q: When will Waves 6, 7 and 8 be out? Wave 6 in Late Dec Wave 7 in Feb Wave 8 in late Spring
VARIANTS:
Q: Do the 4 Horsemen decide what figures/characters will be the variants? Cornboy: We have no say over what variants will or won't be done, or whether they will, or won't be released. Most of the time we come up with the ideas for repaint variants and make those suggestions to Mattel. Sometimes they let us know what variants they want to see. It changes all the time.
Q: What about the wave one variants? What is the paint variant in wave one? It would have been an Etrigan repaint with black lips and slightly different eyes (in a more Kirby look). Unfortunately in our efforts to get Wave 2 out as quick as possible, the Wave 1 variants took a powder. We are working on finding ways to get these to the market, perhaps in future mixes.
UPDATE Q: Any word on if and when the DCUC modern Red Tornado variant might be available to collectors? Not at this time but we will continue to work on ways to bring him out to store shelves.
Q: What about the wave two Firestorm variants? Because there was so much demand for both versions of Firestorm, he has been changed from a variant to a running change. The first half of the Wave 2 production will be Ronnie, the second half will be Jason.
UPDATE: The mix with Jason Firestorm will be shipping in November.
Q: What is the ratio for the Superman red & blue variants in wave 2? Superman Red/Blue will continue to ship 50/50 throughout the run.
Q: What is the deal with the chase Aquaman design? That's not any version I'm familiar with. Cornboy: We really weren't all too familiar with that version of Aquaman, so DC gave us style guide sheets. All of the style guide sheets we were given to create that version of Aquaman match what we did to a "T". It was even approved by DC themselves.
Q: What ratio will the Deathstroke/Sinestro variants be packed in wave 3? Sinestro will be a 50/50 ratio, Deathstroke will be a bit less.
Q: Will there be any variants for the Wal-Mart wave? The Wal-Mart Wave (Wave 5) will not have any variants.
Q: Will unique character variants like Ronnie and Jason Firestorm be evenly-shipped so fans can get all of the unique characters? We are still working out a lot of these logistics, but for the most part, variants with unique heads will be evenly shipped while paint deco changes will be more of a chase figure packed in smaller quantities.
Q: With the DCUC case packs moving up from six figures to ten per case, will there be a greater likelihood that by ordering a case, collectors will be able to get all the variants in a given wave? [color=red]The variants will continue to be chase figures. The extra spots in the case packs will be filled with All Star figures on re-released cards such as Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Batman. Our goal is to keep new figures coming for collectors while having the big 7 at retail for the casual buyer or the “Momâ€

What's a 2up figure? Are they the larger versions selling at TRU?

Yup! You're right, they are the 12-inch versions of the 6-inchers, hence called 2-UPs!

Thanks for compiling all that, Superfly! Good read. That should hold me over until ToyFare. Or until Toy Fair. Either way.

Awesome read.....but one thing stood out for me. How is the perfect (imo) Darkseid we got not in scale? I think he's at the perfect height and a lot of artists these days need to chill when it comes to their interpretation of any bad guy having to be the size of Kong. I found the DCD IC Mongul really silly, and I'd feel the same about a C and C Darkseid the size of Grundy. If thats what they would go for instead of so many other characters that could fill the spot (I wouldnt mind a Kilowog). Now, a new Doomsday? Go nuts. Just my 2 cents

According to the new Toyfare the THREE NY Comic Con DCUC Exclusives are...
Knight Shadow Batman, Black Costume Superman and Tech Suit Mr Freeze.
There are pics of all three and the black costume superman and knight shadow batman are the same figures that were released earlier.
Tech Suit Mr Freeze is mostly black with metallic blue and red.

I will never understand how someone could consider Lobo inappropriate for a toyline that has Etrigan the Demon in it.
I'm just sayin'.
