I know there's still a bit of a wait 'til Mattel's 3-3/4" DC Universe Infinite Heroes line hits the stores (July/August)...but I wanted to give it a home here on AFI to talk about it.
As I've stated endless in other threads around the toy-centric interwebs, I am extremely excited about this line. My favorite characters in my favorite scale! It's a dream come true!
We're going to hear more about the line coming out of the NYCC in a few weeks, but I stumbled across something today that had some interesting news about DCIH... there are around 45 characters planned for 2008!
That sounds crazy! 45?!
It was in this podcast from Toy Fair:
http://www.comicmix.com/news/2008/02/19/comicmix-radio-exclusive-doctor-who-mini-mates/
The Comic Mix guys interview Mattel's PJ Lewis. He drops the 45 character bomb.
Whoa.
I also had missed the news that broke in a recent issue of Lee's about 2 exclusive 6 packs coming to TRU this summer. One has a Green Lantern Corp theme, and the other is undisclosed (but rumored to be Gotham centric). Nice.
I know some have some concerns about this line based on the sculpts and paints seen at Toy Fair, but I'm optimistic that this line is gonna rock!
Jeff

Cool news, thanks for that Jeff.
I'm all over that GL box set (ah, I'm all over all of them to be honest).

Jeff, there is a 10+ page thread about this in the Toy Fair 08 forum. We could move that to the Mattel one if you like.

Yeah yeah, new thread!
So 45 figures is insane, and no way am I passing on this line. We should do a running list to see who we know about so far...

Jeff, I think everyone missed that tidbit about the GL Corps and the rumored Gotham City packs. Sweet lord!
I really don't wanna buy another line. I really don't.
Damn you, Mattel.

Alrighty....that's as good a segue as any ;-)
Let's try to guess who'll make up the GL 6 pack!
My guess (hope) is:
1. Sinestro (Sinestro Corp. costume)
2. Kyle Rayner
3. Tomar Re
4. a Guardian
5. Abin Sur
6. John Stewart
My guesses are based upon the assumption that the 6 packs would have a minimum of new tooling. So, I opted for 1 all-new sculpt (a Guardian). Everyone else could be done with new heads and existing bodies.
Otherwise, I'd put Killowog on the list...but I think he'd have to be an all-new sculpt.
Jeff

I think you're pretty much on the money, Jeff.
I'd say Kyle, John, Sinestro, Tomar Re, Abin Sur, and either Jade, Katma Tui, Arisia, or Soranik Natu, just to throw a bone to the ladies.

How many body types did we really see at Toy Fair?
male & female?
was Wonder Girl any shorter than Black Canary?
were there any male Titans shown?
if we stick to standard body types:
Sinestro
Kyle Rayner
Guy Gardner
John Stewart
Katma Tui
Tomar Re
Man, this might be like buying the JLU all over again. this line is going to get expensive. Why are we no longer content with lines like the old Superpowers which gave us an average of 11 figures in one year? That I could afford.
sigh. I'll never win the "he who dies with the most toys wins" game.

I'm 99% sure that we'll see an Infinite Heroes Hal Jordan at some point. That'd be my luck
I really want to like the Infinite Heroes. I hope for the sake of all that is awesome that the figures end up looking (at the very least) better than the prototypes we've seen so far.
This line has great potential. It could maybe even come close to the greatness that was Kenner's Super Powers line. Maybe...if the final figures look good, that is.
For me to even consider buying and collecting the entire line, Mattel has to hit a grand slam, in my opinion. For that to happen, Infinite Heroes would have to be as good or better than both JLU and Super Powers. If they fall short of that, then I'll buy a few here and there when they're of characters that I want, and if they look awesome enough.

That's hard to say. We've been told that those figures are very early prototypes, so we don't really know how many body types there are. It's odd, though, because some of the figures looked completely badass (like Hawkman, Thanagarian soldiers, Black Adam, Killer Croc, and Hush), and others looked like complete and utter garbage (Supergirl, Wonder Girl).

Yeah...at this point, until I see final product, I don't know if I'll be buying these or not. I'd love to buy them up for me and my boys, but what I've seen so far is so rough I can't really make that call yet.
I want to love them.

Oh, for crap's sake!
Thanks for the pic, Jeff! Every new incarnation of Hal in any other Mattel action figure line other than JLU just gets me even more ticked off, dammitall ! At least he seems to be one of the better sculpts, minus the glossy paint job. Modern outfit too. Cool.
