I forget: who was the Killer? Was it Johnny Thunder? The Killer was the Earth-Two Flash. He was possessed by an old enemy of the Golden Age Mr. Terrific, the Spirit King. While in his thrall the Flash strangled Terrific and the Spirit King subsequently escaped. The Spectre avenged Mr. Terrific's murder years later in The Spectre vol. 3. #54. That was the same issue that introduced the new Mr. Terrific, Michael Holt. Mike (Wow. I feel like reading some comics now.)

Cool! Thanks; I sort of remember that now, but it was long time since I read that story.
I may have to track down that issue of the Spectre, although I am sure it is pretty pricey now.
Not only do I want to read some comics now; I want DC Direct to finish the Golden Age heroes in-scale to previous releases!!!
(in lieu of Mattel making them, of course )

Were there any stories dealing with the after effects of Terrific's death? I don't remember any. I would think that Jay would still have some major issues dealing with that...

All Star Comics had been cancelled. THE modern JSA moved into Adventure Comics for a bit which led up to the JLA/JSA team up in JLoA 171, 172 where Terrific died. The JSA rarely appeared outside JLA/JSA crossovers after that.

I would have thought since that time that some writer would address the affect that event would have on Jay. I'd be pretty messed up if a creature took over my body and made me kill a guy on my softball team.
I could have sworn some story touched on it a while back...but I'm not sure.

Geoff Johns touched on it a bit in the previous JSA book - issues #60-#62 from 2004.
It is funny that after Mr. Terrific's murder in 1979, there was never any follow-up until John Ostrander's run on the The Spectre nearly eighteen years later. You would think that some writer would have tried to tie up all of those loose ends long before that.

The only thing that keeps that picture from being perfect for me, is that they left out Hippolyta.

Just no point in reading JSA right now. Filled with new no name characters who will just be cannon fodder for the next event. Same goes for the current Teen Titans cast.

We're finally starting to see the JSA take shape in DCUC, but where's the Golden Agers?? GL, Flash, Hourman, Starman, Doc Mid-nite, Mr. Terrific, Atom...
...and with the 2-pack cancelled, they better add the GA Hawks back into the line somewhere!!

Seeing that cover, I always thought that Batman would have made a great member of the modern Justice Society.
It would be nice to see him have mentors (Jay, Alan, Ted) and friends (Mr. Terrific, Dr. Mid-Nite, Hawkman) - we already know he's good with kids (Stargirl, Jakeem, Cyclone)
Batman "dead" - such a freakin' waste. But then again, Batman has been poorly written since 2000.
