2009 EDIT: It's obvious now that the remaining Super Powers characters should all be on the "no-brainers" list, along with other themes and characters that have become apparent within the past year. But I don't want to revise the list now; rather, I will still keep this going, just for the heck of it and see where we end up, based on what we knew and assumed at the point when the line began.Inspired by this thread:
http://www.thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopi ... sc&start=0 , I started thinking about what we can realistically expect to see over the next few years in DCUC. Using the basis that the line will succeed and Mattel will produce roughly 200 individual figures before the contract is up (whether they be unique characters, costumes, or variants), I started breaking down the character list into what we logically should see produced within the next few years.
By taking into account:
- a character's popularity and/or visibility within the DCU
- the use and re-use of existing tooling/sculpts
- appealing designs and costumes that would translate well to figure form
The following list is what I came up with. I know I forgot a few characters too. Granted, this is a total guess and a good solid waste of a lunch hour so take it as you will. Some of your favorite characters may not be near the top, but I tried to take an educated guess on how Mattel and the 4H would decide who would get the top 200 spots, when taking into account the criteria mentioned above.

no-brainers - these are 100% guaranteed to be released, based on logic and what Mattel/4H has mentioned:

excellent chance of being made - these are near the top of the list of B- & C-list characters. These are the characters that always topping fans' wish-lists. Also included are logical repaints of the Trinity, main supporting cast, and characters that are constantly requested for various DC teams. I would think 90% of these will make it into the line before it is over:

A solid chance of being made - these are right in the middle to the bottom of the B- & C-list characters. Fan favorites and recognizable names, and characters that round out the rosters of various teams. We might see some of these as variants of other figures. These have an above-average chance of making the cut into the line, but this is where a good chunk of the cut-off occurs.

A 50-50 shot - these are right in the maybe/maybe not range. There are definitely some recognizable names and big fan favorites, but are they really what could be considered to be in the top 200 of the DCU? Maybe. I am guessing we see more than a few of these, but this list is really hit-or-miss.

We are already way passed the possible number of slots filled, so many of these will not make it. Unless Mattel renews that contract...

Doubtful of being made - these we probably are not gonna see. Some have unique tooling size and/or sculpt, which already puts them in a tough spot. Some are just too obscure or unknown, and some just seem too bland visually to make into a figure. There are some great characters here, but I will be really surprised (but happy) to see any these. I just do not think it is gonna happen for this crew.

all the DCnU crap
OK, so that's it. Maybe some of you totally agree. More likely, you think I am way off base and full of crap. Or maybe you are amazed that I actually took the time to compile all of this garbage and are laughing at me in ridicule. Either way, lemme hear what you think!
