Ok so I bought a few action figures from the flea market and they smell like cigarette smoke does anyone have any suggestion to get rid of that smell? There must be something I can do to get rid of it.
Thanks guys

I use bleach water. It's the only thing I've found that lasts. Take a container with lid and add a few tablespoons of bleach to the water, put the figure in, and shake it up really well. I'd also take an old toothbrush and dunk it in the solution and scrub down the figures, too. Wash really well with soap, and dry thoroughly so they don't rust.
Good luck!

Try putting the figures in a plastic bag and then placing the bag in a container with a lid, like a large bowl. Add some baking soda and rice to the container, cover it with the lid, and leave them in overnight. Give it a second night if it's still noticeable.

Febreze works VERY well for those that aren't too bad. If they just reek of it, CC's method works well also. It just takes longer lol.
And before you ask, I've never yet had the plastic in a figure react badly to the Febreze. I was concerned the first time I used it so I tested it on a spare Superman, but I've had no issues so far. There's always a first time, but so far so good.

Great suggestions. There was a lot of GIJOEs i bought a couple of years back that smelled like smoke. I'll try these on them. I just soaked them in soapy water overnight and it seemed to work. Never thought about Febreeze we've got it all over the house my wife loves that stuff.

Set it outside for a day or two. It's the best and most absolute method. You just need an open air space that's safe/

Thanks, I'll try that. I've got a screened porch and the day off tomorrow...it's supposed to be nice, so I'll see if it works. Got a few more oddball Super Powers items packaged and they reek of smoke.
Peace,
Chip

I've never done it, but I'm guessing unless there's a good breeze going by, setting the carded figure outside by itself won't do much. I would suggest that if there is NOT a good breeze, put a fan in front of it to keep a good air flow going over it.

Don't ask me for the scientific evidence behind it, but there is something to be said for "Mother nature's air" versus "inside your house air" and it makes a big difference.
It could take a few days, I've even heard of people setting their stuff out for weeks (Not for smoking smells though) and the fresh air actually removes the smell.
It's worked for me the few times I've done it. Spring/Autumn are the best times too, because there are good breezes and changes in temperature that aren't drastic enough to damage your toys but allow them to "breath".
No idea what the weather is in your neck of the woods but we've got the end of winter/start of spring thing going on that really would be good right now for this sort of venture. Just make sure it's somewhere that won't get it damaged.

Unless you live in Texas. 54 this morning, 85 this afternoon, 71 now. Oh well, in about a month it'll never dip below 90 again until October.
