Morrison is occasionally interesting. I haven't read his JLA, so maybe it has some merit. If you explain to me what's good about it, I would consider checking it out.
Well, considering your opinion of David and Waid, I doubt I could convince you to read anything. Morrison revamped just about every major villain the JLA had faced and presented them in a new fashion for a new generation. But since you don't like unoriginal ideas, I doubt you'd like it.

[quote="The Superfly"]The DCU of the 1990s…Xtreme. Grim 'n gritty. The Dark Age. The period of comics in the 90's, while reviled by many, gave us some great characters. And we need to see ‘em in DCUC!
Aquaman - the JLA ain't complete without this hook-armed crank.
HELL YES TO PADIATOR ORIN!
Artemis - easy variant using the existing Artemis head and minor retooling.
ugh. the WW Artemis is fine for me, never liked her Requiem persona, and it was quietly dropped.
Arsenal - it's either this or that purple costume, so hideous I won't even post a pic.
THANK YOU!!! LOVE this costume, and don't forget the yellow vest outifit he had when he ran the Titans with Donna (Grant, Terra, Mirage, psycho Gar)
Asmodel - this would make an awesome C&C!
Agreed for CnC, but who else in that wave? Zauriel, Spectre, maybe NERON? Trickster?
Aztek - he was woefully underused and looks very cool.
Always thought Uno had a cool costume.
Batman Azrael - I'm sure we're getting this (these?) at some point.
ugh
Black Canary - DCD made one, but not with the short hair.
I'll take the long-haired version DCD did. not a fan of short-haired Dinah.
Black Lightning - i like the collar.
Didn't Jeff briefly have a BLUE version of this, too? easy variant!
Dr. Mid-Nite - barely making the cut (created in '99), this mainstay of the modern JSA has to be on the short-list.
YES, please!
Flash Wally West - we need this darker metallic costume with the white eyes.
ANY Wally is fine by me!
Dark Flash Walter West - this would make a killer variant.
SOLD!
Flash John Fox - i'm guessing we won't ever see this one, but I want it badly.
SOLD!
Green Arrow Connor Hawke - another great character that DCD has neglected.
Don't forget, Ollie also had a similar version of this costume, so easy variant?
Green Lantern Kyle Rayner - no-brainer here.
SOLD!
Guy Gardner Warrior - which one sucks the least?? I dunno, but I would buy them all with no shame.
I'll take classic Guy, and the shirtless Vuldarian Guy.
Hitman - just because.
Not a fan of Tommy.
Hourman Android - this would make a great-looking figure.
I've got the DCD version, that's enough for me. Maybe Rick? just not in that horrid McFarlane purple and red!
Huntress - I'm guessing we'll see the modern Jim Lee costume first, but I want this one as well.
SOLD!
Impulse - a must-have for the Young Justice team.
sure
Monarch - Captain Atom, Hawk, Extant, what a mess. He'd still look cool.
SOLD! and multiple heads packed in, so we can have Hank, Cap, and others from Armageddon 2001 story! I'd take an EXTANT, too.
Oracle - would this make a cool figure?
I think Barb has a better shot at another BatGirl than as Oracle, imo.
Parallax - a definite must for all the GL fans.
SOLD!!
Plastic Man - gotta be on the Mattel short-list. Regular figure or C&C?
I would rather Plas with arm extensions, like IDC Ralph.
Prometheus - this one is on the top of my want list. The 4H would make this guy look awesome.
no longer a fan, but would be nice.
The Ray - need it!!
SOLD! and a trasp.smoke "powered up" Ray variant would be AWESOME! (as would a transp.smoke Negative Man/Woman!)
Resurrection Man - the reg version is just a dirty bum, the 1Million version would look cool.
MITCH SHELLY is an instant sale from me!
Sentinel - of course, we'd better see the normal Alan Scott first, but I've always been partial to this costume.
I like that costume, too, but we need a CLASSIC Alan first!
The Shade - I have wanted a Starman-version of Shade for years, let's hope we get one.
Starman Jack Knight - PLEASE!!!
Starman Mikaal Tomas - he's blue. Blue is good.
no love for the RED costume, THOM KALLOR or even WILL PAYTON??
Superboy - this one is sorely needed, both versions.
Tempest - easy repaint with a new head.
SOLD!
Triumph - I might be the only guy that likes this character...
meh.
White Martians - imagine how the 4H version would look, maybe a C&C?
SOLD!
Wonder Girl - we need her for the Young Justice team.
I'd rather have DONNA TROY before Cassie.
Zauriel - one of the coolest Morrison creations, we need both versions.
Justice Legion Alpha One Million
SWEEEET!

[quote="The Superfly"] Brainiac - I always liked this version.
I always liked this look, myself, too!
Bloodwynd - this guy might actually make a cool-looking figure.
Is he still in continuity? there was a REAL Bloodwynd, right?
Damage - don't we all need the guy responsible for jumpstarting the Big Bang and re-creating the universe?
YES, PLEASE!!! Pass on his current masked look.
The General - another good C&C option.
CnC for JLA wave with Diana the Huntress, Zauriel, Huntress, Steel, Aztek?
Hawkman - the post-Zero Hour version. Easy repaint and new head.
I can see this look as a MC exclusive.
Jesse Quick - she could have a wave of her own with all those costumes...
I'll take Jesse as either 'Lady Flash' or in the costume inspired by her father, there. Just NO Q-boob!
Queen Bee - this would make a great-looking figure.
might be nice.
Robin - we need Tim Drake in the original costume.
still got DCSH.
Robotman - this version from the Morrison Doom Patrol would make a killer C&C.
I don't see CnC, but nice variant to the alleged w10.
Spoiler - maybe a good 2-pack with Robin.
Steph would be a nice addition, I guess.
Wonder Woman Hippolyta - we need this darker metallic costume with the white eyes.
YES, PLEASE!!!
(couple more BIG HINTS in there, btw!)
some others:
Rocket Red - Dmitri Pushkin RR Brigade armor variant # armors or just a decal sheet of numbers. Maybe Apokolips Armor as variant?
Is BLUE DEVIL too early?
Maxima:
Knockout:
Rampage:

Aquaman - sure I'll buy it
Artemis - gawd no
Arsenal - I like the purple costume. This thing ... ugh
Asmodel - I suppose I could find a place in the back of the display ... or off to the side ... behind someone else ...
Aztek - would be nice, but I'm not hankering for him
Batman Azrael - I want it more for kitsch
Black Canary - sure
Black Lightning - the collar and the bagginess are exactly what I hated about this costume
Dr. Mid-Nite - first one on the list that I really WANT
Flash Wally West - he'd be okay. If he just came with a stand I might skip him though
Dark Flash Walter West - I'd be fine without it
Flash John Fox - this I'd really like
Green Arrow Connor Hawke - not a big fan, and yet I think it would be cool to get a figure
Green Lantern Kyle Rayner - yup, gotta be done
Guy Gardner Warrior - I never, ever want to see this in any way, shape or form
Hitman - don't like the character, don't like the writer ... I really don't know
Hourman Android - I'd really like this one
Huntress - If we only got one Huntress I'd want the First Appearance, but I wouldn't mind this one
Impulse - I guess
Monarch - for a C&C sure
Oracle - I'm sure they could make one I'd like
Parallax - hate to see a slot wasted on this awful plot device
Plastic Man - I'd rather see Classic Funny Golden Age Plastic Man than Annoying Idiot Not At All Funny Modern Plastic Man
Prometheus - not pulling for this one but I'm sure he'd look good
The Ray - WANT this one
Resurrection Man - the One Million does look a lot cooler
Sentinel - I'd never miss this one, but I'd buy it if they made it
The Shade - as long as he looks like that pic -- if we get the dainty dapper not-really-a-villain look forget it
Starman Jack Knight - yup
Starman Mikaal Tomas - yup
Superboy - well if they make him ...
Tempest - eh why not
Triumph - sure
White Martians - it would make an interesting figure
Wonder Girl - okey doke
Zauriel - the armoured one would be alright
Justice Legion Alpha One Million - I pretty much want every single One Million character -- including Peter Platinum! Imagine though ... two John Foxes ... I can actually see it happening in this line
Brainiac - I'd love it -- that's my second favourite Brainiac, after the Silver Age version
Bloodwynd - I thought the costume was a bit over-the-top, but it might make a cool figure
Damage - sure why not
The General - only as a C&C
Hawkman - I want this one
Jesse Quick - none of those. Her only costume I even came close to liking was her original costume and that one was bland
Queen Bee - would probably make a great looking figure
Robin - the tiny "teen body" might actually work for the original costume
Robotman - hated that look. I'd rather see it as an exclusive I could skip
Spoiler - I'd kinda like this
Wonder Woman Hippolyta - this would be a nice one

JLA hasn't been as good since it restarted in 97. Resurrection Man had an excellent & too short run. Aztek's unused potential. Zauriel's few appearances, and his mini Paradise Lost. The short-lived Chronos and Chase books. Connor Hawke trying to fill his Dad's shoes. Hooked Aquaman w/ his Army. Walter West, the Dark Flash. No Man's Land. Electric Supes (though he was best used in JLA)
And even those last 5-6 issues of Hal/Spectre.
Oh, those were my good ol' days. I haven't been reading so many good comics at once since. And probably never will again.
Agreed, there was some great stuff from the 90s. I hope we see some of these characters at SDCC.

After actively reading and collecting since 1980, I gave up on comics cold turkey in 1994 just before things turned ... interesting.
Emerald Twilight. Clone Saga. Zero Hour. DC vs Marvel/Marvel vs DC. (Which OUGHT to have rocked but didn't.) Marvel Edge. Onslaught. Heroes Reborn.
Stuff like that.
During that time, I picked up some odds and ends such as the Batman/Wildcat and Nighthawk mini-series. Then George Perez returned to the Avengers, Grant Morrison relaunched the JLA, and I began reading James Robinson's Starman with issue #29. That series alone renewed my faith in comics. Once Robinson brought back the JSA, I was back in the game for another long stretch.
Great list you have here, but my top picks would be:
Dr. Mid-Nite (Along with Mr. Terrific, my favorite duo in comics, they're the new Power Man & Iron Fist!)
Flash (Greg LaRocque version.)
Oracle (One of the best 90's revamps. DCD did her, why not Mattel?)
Plastic Man (A must for completion of the Super Powers upgrades.)
The Ray (A surpringly enduring character.)
The Shade (I like the classic version, but this guy is THE Shade.)
Starman Jack Knight (BEST. NINETIES. CHARACTER. EVER.)
Thanks for reminding me that the decade didn't completely suck after all. Quite a few diamonds in that rough...

I started collecting Comic Books in the 90's and then started on action figures after that. I did not think that era was all that bad.
A lot of those characters were made by Kenner/Hasbro in the Total Justice and then JLA figure series and that’s the last we evr saw of those versions. It would be awesome to see some of them again in DCUC scale.
Total Justice
JLA
I don’t want them all but I would get these…
Artemis
Batman Azrael (put him in a 2 pack with a 1990’s all gray batsuit Batman)
Black Canary (although I like the fishnet stocking version better)
Huntress (any version, I like the newer one better)
Oracle (only 1 figure ever made by DCD)
Robin (Tim Drake)
Spoiler (and Spoiler as Robin too)
Superboy (At least the one with the jacket)

3 Discussions going on in this thread, all pretty interesting!
1) Bran Vs Whiteline: Ok, leaving my personal feelings out of this (for now), you both make valid points. Your both arguing different points, however. Whiteline, you are stating (I apologize if my assumption is incorrect) that 're-imagination' and 'inspired by' are two different things. Batman is inspired by pulp, Superman is inspired by mythology, Elvis by Berry, etc. All of this is true, and argument is simply over semantics. Bran is arguing that inspiration is irrelevant. He wants something new from already established characters. He would rather read Batman's first encounters with Joker, Superman's first bouts with Luthor, than their 100th. Again, this is a preference, and it's Bran's. Now for my two cents. Bran, why read the same book 100 times when you can read 100 new books? If the story is 'the same old thing', at least you have experienced it. You KNOW you have gained nothing, but what have you lost? Life is experience.
2) Were the 90's forgettable? Partially. How is that different than any other decade? It's not.
3) The OP. Nice post Superfly! I am ALL FOR 90's characters, especially Young Justice. Love the Superboy costume, probably the best re-imagination of the Superman design (IMHO) and Tim Drake's Robin was awesome. Love Arsenal and, although sometimes unpopular, Parallex was sweet! Huntress, Aquaman(hook), Connor Hawke, Kyle Rayner, Sentinel? Yup. Justice Legion Alpha One Million? You betcha! Heck, I'll take em all!!!

It’s funny that some people complained about the comic books of the 90’s but not on the action figures of the 90’s. Total Justice and JLA were typical of the hyper styled figures of the era. They only had about 5 POA and the arms and legs were bent in permanent positions so the figure could only strike one pose.

I love most of the Total Justice figures. That version of Black Lightning is still my favorite costume. And that line gave us maybe the only Zauriel we'll ever get.

You are probably right about that. Hasbro produced Zauriel in 1999, he was in the JLA line and released as both a single carded figure and part of the JLA The World's Greatest DC Comics Super Heroes Collection III box set along with Martian Manhunter, Superman and the set exclusives The Joker and Lex Luthor. Most of the JLA figures we reused from the Total Justice series (Kenner 96-97).

Blasphemy. I will get a 4H Zauriel.
But yeah, Total Justice and JLA were awesome. Too bad the characters released were so limited in number. Would've loved a DCUC-sized collection of TJLAers.

Make no mistake I love the JLA/Total Justice line. I have almost a full set of both carded and loose figures and I am looking to finally complete it.
The figures were so GODAWFUL they were great. MOst of them are posed in such a way that they look as if they are in pain. The majority of them will not stand up by conventional means, and the accessories that they came with were just awful.
But these figures were a product of their time. A time when everything was EXTREME! It is not these characters that I have a problem with, save for Parrallax/ Kyle Raynor the Emerald Toilet stroyline was what caused me to drop DC comics in the 90's.
It is the slew of other ungodly rejects that were mentioned. A good bit of these characters are better left forgotten. But unfortunately the children of the 90's who had no knowledge of what a good comic was will never let them die.
And it is truly sad.
But hey, more Aztek for everyone right.
