The Last Airbender Teaser Trailer Online!
Source: comingsoon.net
June 23, 2009
The new teaser trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender is now online here! Opening July 2nd, Paramount's big screen adaptation stars Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Jessica Jade Andres, Aasif Mandvi, Shaun Toub, Cliff Curtis and Keong Sim.
Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film's hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the "Last Airbender" -- the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world.
Jackson Rathbone plays Katara's brother Sokka, and Dev Patel plays Prince Zuko, prince of the Fire Nation. Mandvi is set to play the role of Commander Zhao, an ambitious and hot-tempered Fire Nation commander. Toub is cast as Uncle Iroh, the retired Fire Nation general and devoted surrogate parent to Dev Patel's character Zuko. Curtis is set to play the ruthless ruler Fire Lord Ozai. Keong Sim has been cast in the role of Earthbending Father.

Bryan Fuller Exits Heroes Again
Source:superherohype.com
June 22, 2009
Ain't It Cool News reports that "Heroes" consulting producer Bryan Fuller has left the show a second time to concentrate on his two new pilots in the works:
"Development was really starting to heat up, And it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC so that wasn't leaving a ton of room for 'Heroes,' unfortunately," the star writer-producer tells AICN exclusively. "We crafted some really great arcs for the season that I'm excited to see come to fruition. I love that cast dearly and am sad to go, but the plate -- she was over-flowing."
Fuller wrote some of the show's best episodes, including "Company Man" and "Cold Snap." He left "Heroes" near the end of the first season for "Pushing Daisies" and returned near the end of last season.

It's a Go for Mutants at Universal
Source: comingsoon.net
June 23, 2009
Universal Pictures has acquired screen rights to Larry Doyle's upcoming novel "Go Mutants!" Variety says Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce, while Doyle will write the script.
"Go Mutants! is a teen comedy/adventure set in a high school where all of the tropes from classic 1950s alien invasion movies came true. Years later, the children of those mutant creatures have assimilated among the other kids.
Doyle said the book and movie invites cameos from '50s fright fixtures like Gort -- the robot from The Day the Earth Stood Still -- and the creature from the black lagoon.

Source: comingsoon.net
June 23, 2009
Fox 2000 has signed Kevin Lima (Enchanted) to direct romantic comedy Frank with Radar Pictures' Ted Field and Chris Chase producing.
Variety says the story centers on a teenage prodigy who's on the cutting edge of cell research in medical school and is encouraged by her guidance counselor to take a break from the lab and make some friends. After several unsuccessful attempts at socializing with her peers, she decides to use her scientific prowess and piece together a friend out of the med school's instructional cadavers.
Fox 2000 acquired the story from Karey Kirkpatrick, who's executive producing with Mike Weber.

The Losers Coming April 16?
Source:Box Office Mojo, superherohype.com
June 24, 2009
Warner Bros. Pictures has set an April 16, 2010 release date for director Sylvain White's big screen adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic book, The Losers. Warner Bros.' New Line also has A Nightmare on Elm Street scheduled for that day, so we're assuming one of these projects will be moved away from the other. Dimension Films was planning an April 16 release for Robert Rodriguez's Nerveracker as well.
The Losers is an adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic book about a band of black ops commandos who are set up to be killed by their own government. They barely survive and set out to get even.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, Jason Patric, Zoe Saldana and Oscar Jaenada will star.

It had to happen: Lucasfilms panel broadcast live from San Diego
Nerd-culture cable channel G4 and Lucasfilms are teaming for the inevitable: a live showing of the Lucasfilms panel from San Diego. In addition, G4 will broadcast live from the show floor on Saturday, July 25th for three hours, starting at 4 pm ET/PT.
According to PR, It’s the the first-ever, exclusive television broadcast of a San Diego panel. The Star Wars Spectacular! will air Saturday July 25th at 2:00 pm ET/PT, with new footage, breaking news, surprise announcements, guest stars and so on.
Traditionally, details surrounding Lucasfilm’s primary panel presentation are closely guarded secrets, with only 6,500 lucky on-site fans allowed access to the wealth of coveted information from a galaxy far, far away. But this year, G4 – the network that delivers all of the latest and greatest news on comic books, games, technology and pop culture – is offering TV viewers the one-of-a-kind opportunity to share the excitement with an exclusive broadcast of the panel. G4’s Attack of the Show hosts Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn will join Lucasfilm’s Steve Sansweet and a galaxy of guests from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and beyond – including supervising director Dave Filoni, and voice talent from the show – to provide an insider look at the Star Wars universe, with never-before-seen footage and a LIVE table read of an exclusive new Clone Wars script.
In addition, fans are invited to participate in the panel itself by submitting Clone Wars questions through a special G4 micro-site. Questions will be answered during the live presentation by Dave Filoni and other Clone Wars creatives!
2009’s Comic-Con International also marks another Lucasfilm milestone – the launch of the all-new Star Wars Stories Project. Fans of the Saga will have the unique opportunity to become a part of the Star Wars universe by contributing to Lucasfilm’s own historical archive. Soliciting movie memories and nostalgia, the Star Wars Stories Project invites fans to share their own tales of fandom through video testimonials. In addition to online submissions, fans will have the opportunity to record their stories at Lucasfilm’s pavilion on the Comic-Con floor.
