Well, I haven't posted any customs since my old site was shut down by AOL, so I figure I'm overdue. Here's a batch: Black Manta: Wildcat body with Manta head (duh). I used Wildcat because I liked the purplish color. It's hard to tell, but the helmet and gloves are black. STRIPE: Some Megaman robot and lots of sculpting. Not on-model, but I still like it. I like the bigger version of STRIPE -- it differentiates him from Steel and Rocket Red. See the shelf picture for scale. Spectre: Invisible Amazo body, invisible J'onn head (thanks to Airmax for that idea), dyed cape from TMNT figure. Mallah and the Brain: Grodd with tusks inserted and sculpted beret, Star Wars medical droid with dome from Mr. Freeze, face from Super Robot Monkey figure, and brain from some zombie.

Love the stonework effect on the displays. They give your collection a nice, retro feel that suits the DCAU stuff. Excellent use of the translucent Amazo body on Spectre. I never thought of him being cast in anything fancier than glow-in-the-dark plastic up to now.
Great work!

Some great and clever uses for parts, here. That Spectre and Brain really grab my attention.

Thanks, guys. I'm going to try to post pictures of my shelves tonight. I actually had some up, but they showed customs I got from other people, and I didn't want anyone thinking I was trying to claim credit for somebody else's work, given the thread title. Yes, I could post disclaimers, but who reads any more? So I deleted them. I'll reshoot and repost.

Thanks, Enzo. Appreciate the kind words.
Here's the pictures of my shelves. The one in the middle is a CD shelf from Pottery Barn Kids -- they had it in their Batman decorating collection and a buddy tipped me off about it. Funny thing -- when I went to buy one (they were $70 each) PB was clearancing them out. I got two for $9 each. The two flanking shelves I built and painted with stonework paint. I'm particularly proud of the Daily Planet globe -- it's all wooden.
All total I've got six of them, all different except for the PB one. Ultimately I plan to position them (and possibly a couple more) in front of a stenciled and painted city backdrop. I'll get there one day.

I got 2 of those Pottery Barn Kids DC towers too, also on clearance. I have all my DC and Marvel Minimates displayed in them.

Nicely done Bryan - Mallah & Brain caught my attention because they're such simple but effective recipes.
But the Spectre? Brilliant good sir. That recipe is great. Thanks for sharing your work - hope to see more.
And is that a Sargon the Sorcerer custom I see in the one pic? More pics please - I love those All-Star Squadron related heroes.

Sure, texgnome1. Thanks for the compliments. I'm really more of a builder than a true artist like Casimir or Airmax. I assemble stuff from existing parts with minor modifications. I guess I'm kind of like Rachel Ray as compared to a real chef -- I keep it simple.
Sargon's a Luthor body with the head of an Atlantis character (I liked making him look more ethnic, plus I love that thousand-meter stare), turban from some Yu-Gi-O figure (I think) and a cape from the STAS Kryptonian Superman.
Oh, and here's Chaselon. He's the body from the PVC set with the base removed. I smoothed and painted his mohawk, and created new arms from some tentacles I had. He's not really on-model to JLU -- but I figure that's as close as I'm going to get. He's a true action figure -- the arms are now on a cut joint and move up and down. He needs at least one down to stand, though.

A few more:
Karkull. He's the bad guy from Samurai Jack.
Titano. Sadly, not to scale, but I still like him. I've had this rotocast gorilla in a toy box for over 20 years. I used to use him as Titano for my Super Powers. I repainted him to look like the show. The cool thing is that he really doesn't have the gorilla shape, with the large belly, etc. He actually is shaped much more like the STAS version of Titano, who's an overgrown chimp.
Version 2.0 of Winged Victory. I did this same recipe before using wings from a Rescue Heroes eagle and Esmeralda's horse. This time I used the knight's horse (already white), dyed the tack to make it reddish (paint doesn't like to stick to it, or I'd paint it), and wings from some Digimon creature (I think). I kept the wing sockets, even though they're gold. So they're both articulated and removable.

I agree with texgnome1, the Mallah and Brain recipes also got my attention.
The Spectre one is also a great one. I ahve created a Spectre with a completely different recipe, I'll try to present it in one of my next posts, now that I have some time to post again.
I 'm not fan of this ethnic vision of Sargon, but if that was what you were looking for* then it is a great rendition.
And I love this new version of Winged Victory!
*As a customizer myself I know that one of the tricky parts of this business is to choose the look for the character. Will it be realistic? comic-based? animated-based? Even down to a particular author's vision of the character.

Here's another vehicle spawned by my obsession with the Seven Soldiers of Victory. Vigilante's motorcycle is a Little Tykes motorcycle that I found at Big Lots for $3. I unscrewed the restraining bolts, opened the bike up, and removed the sparking motor, so it's now hollow and both wheels spin freely. While the parts were separated, I spraypainted the translucent engine metallic silver, then reassembled and painted the body.
Of course, Vig can't sit on the bike, but the scale and animated style are pretty much perfect. I've got a second one somewhere, and I'm toying with the idea of cutting off the saddle and adding fake legs to the outside, so Vig could be popped into the hole. With the engine gone, there's plenty of room in there, but I haven't worked out all the logistics. Might be simpler just to add a permanent Vig to the bike, kind of like those JL bikes that were sold for a while.

So much great stuff, especially Karkull! But the buildings are a great and unique touch. I might have to follow your lead on a Daily Planet building someday.

This is about as small an update as you can get, I think, and the most minimal of customs, a Brainiac 5 with actual belt control panels. I created the two-button panels by slicing up the legs from a Toy Story baby's head/spider thing (I have no idea what that's called). But they work perfectly. And, as we all know, details count.
