Just read a blurb at TNI that Hasbro announced they are reviving the Micronauts brand. Huge surprise, but sorta natural given their history with Takara...
...interested to see how this develops!

I have yet to get a Press release or find a second source on the Micronauts but The new cartoon, figure line, live action film announcement for Jem and the holograms is BIG news in the Hollywood trade press.

| I LOVE Micronauts and welcome any chance to revive the property. Especially if they can make characters from the old Marvel run like Commander Rann, Bug and Marionette. |

a large part of my 35 year old collection just went up in value. I don't suppose there is ANY chance that JJ would make a stop motion film with actual Microman figures.
I actually want a new backstory or a version original Japanese Microman backstory to be used for the new toys and film instead of the Marvel / Mego storyline that has been used / abused so many times already. With Marvel now at Disney I don't see the Marvel characters becoming available to Hasbro any time soon.
There is a rumor in the Micro community that Mattel had been sniffing at the license with enough force that Hasbro felt in 'HAD' to take on the license so that Mattel would not get its on hooks into Takara and the roots of the Transformers line. The best part of this whole story is that Micronauts is FINALLY retched from the evil claws of Marty Abrams.

Why wouldn't they. Hasbro already makes the Marvel Universe Toy line. Aren't the Marvel Micronauts characters trademarked by Marvel? I actually would love to see those characters (meaning the Marvel ones) done in that scale and toy line but keeping them separate from the Micronauts toy line.

Yes thank God for that. all those years he had the licence and nothing done with it besides what Palisades did. Finally a company that can actually do something with it. It would be really cool if they reinvent but every once in a while do a "Repro" line. |

Guess it's time to start picking up the things I don't have yet before they get out of control. Hell most of the things for sale on E-Bay for the Microman line are outrageous anyway. |

Some of the Microman stuff will probably go up in value, but a ton will probably go down. Especially if Hasbro ends up putting out better versions of the vintage stuff.
I'm pretty excited for all this.

Oh come on Star Trek wasn't that bad. I can think of other Star Trek films which were worse. Like most of the uneven numbered films.

And you were correct sir!

Speaking of local stores when I was little I remember a toy store in the Arcade in downtown Cleveland that carried toys like this. Shogun Warriors but not the Mattel versions, Microman and what was to become the biggest fight between my parents and I, Godaikins.God did I want those shinny Die-cast Transforming piece of toy heaven!
This thread is really making want to go back to collect Japaneses toys. It maybe a little less frustrating then DCUC. |

I vehemently disagree.
The new film was far, far worse than even the worst of the films featuring the original cast.
ST I: Great premise, painfully dull directing and editing. **
ST II: Great Trek and great movie. ****
ST III: Ultra-thin plot, goofy premise, but well directed and acted. **1/2
ST IV: Giant holes in the plot (like any time travel story) but great Trek and great fun ***
ST V: Goofy plot, terrible effects, some cringe-worthy scenes, and a couple of moments as good as anything ever committed to film. Not really a movie, but a great episode of Trek. Tremendously underrated. ***
ST VI: Stiff, charmless, and incredibly dumb writing. Good plot. **
ST XI: Horrible in nearly every way. Karl Urban as McCoy is the only bright spot in the movie. Terrible plot, directing, acting, and writing. Bad enough that it isn't a good movie. Even worse that it bears almost no resemblance to actual Star Trek. My wife and I both wanted to walk out after less than an hour. * (And that's generous.)

I would love for them to do figures based on the comicbook in the Joe 25th Anniversary Style.
I've been waiting for a comic accurate Acroyear. |
