Yeah, I braved the lines and went to the midnight showing last night here in Columbus. AMC Lennox - 24 screens, and every seat sold out. Everybody is probably sick of hearing what everyone else thought about it at this point, but I thought it was worth posting as a topic anyway if anyone wanted to share comments.

I thought it was great - and I DID NOT like Episodes 1 and 2. After Empire Strikes Back, this may be my favorite. I can't believe some of the bold choices Lucas made in this thing - dark, dark, dark! And the effects in this are a 10-fold improvement over the other requels. Yoda is on a Gollum level of rendering, if not better, in this one. This is the most dramatic, traumatic entry in the series.

MINOR SPOILER:

I thought Lucas did a really good job bridging the look and feel of these prequels leading into the look and feel of the original trilogy pretty well - that was something I thought nearly impossible at this point, and figured he'd drop the ball. But when Vader and Palpatine are standing on that "old school" Imperial Star Destroyer bridge with a young Grand Moff Tarkin and all of the guys in the old school uniforms - made me feel all warm inside.

Very happy with this movie.

Okay,

Just got back from EpIII.

Wow. WOW.

Finally a Star Wars Prequel worthy of the name!

I loved it. And like faesforce I really didn't like Eps 1 & 2 as movies (for toys they were okay, but as films, crapola.)

I too think it's the best after Empire.

For the ONLY time in the prequels, you actually feel for Anakin (looks like that dialogue coach paid off!) He comes off as really conflicted and instead of a whiney jerkwad, you actually buy that he's a competant Jedi and a basically decent person faced with impossible choices that basically drive him over the edge.

There are great nods to the dialogue of the old films ("I have a bad feeling about this..." etc) and finally we see actual plot points and visuals that actually feel like they lead to the OT. (The interior of the Blockade Runner actually LOOKS and feels like the OT one!)

The plot moves, there are no unnecessary diversions (i.e. Pod Racing) and you feel real emotion! (well as much emotion as a SW film can garner.)

The effects are awesome but the films story actually feels worthy of the effects, whereas in the first 2 prequels if felt like the effects were an attempt to distract you from the lack of story.

Happy SW fan once again! :D

ok... I changed my mind. I'm sitting in a theater right now waiting for the 10:00 showwing to start. I just can't bear to break the streak of seeing the SW movies on the first day starting with the original release of ESB.

I'll let you know what I think when its over.

solid B.
why? the FARCE the movie became when any battle droids were on-screen and the fact Grievous was an unnecessary addition that Dooku could have EASILY fulfilled. Of course, I hated him from the moment he appeared on Clone Wars.

and it was bad enough to see R2's heretofore unseen jets in the Geonosis droid factory, but when he JUMPS all over the place? ugh.

also, Bail Organa orders C-3PO's wipe because....?
in the book I flipped thru at WM, they left the line in where 3PO tells R2 he is going to tell the kids all about their parents in the future. THEN Bail orders 3PO wiped, but cutting that line leaves a BIG question to me as to Bail's motives. Was he following Yoda's orders? Keeping Leia's ID secret? or was it that he finally got as tired of 3PO as me, but knew 3PO still had SOME useful traits.
