That quote came from someone at Mattel.

Quote:
The license is attached to the new animated series currently in development.

Hrm...last I heard production on that was halted. That info is about 4 months old, tho.

Quote:
It's looking like BanDai will nail the license. Do NOT expect classics styled figures. They will be based on the new designs.

Interesting...again, I thought WB had nixed the whole thing.

Peace,

Chip

They were wrong. Or it was purely subjective based on Mattel's estimations for what the license was worth. But the real issue was that if Mattel wanted to make "Classics" Styled figures with the license they would have to commit to the new animated series style line as well. And they weren't interested.

Nothing would please me more than if that were true. But it's not.

It's not nixed. They've already spent a lot of money on development. With A list talent. But it's a big priority for them.

Cartoon Network originally passed on the new Thundercats. Both Mattel and Hasbro got the series pitch and passed on the toys for couple different reasons. "Lack of cool tech" the big one. But Ban Dai did a hard core play for the rights. They weren't interested in a "Classic" adult line, and thought that the new take on the series was something very different for the toy aisles. Which is what Mattel and Hasbro were afraid of.

Wow, that's pretty disheartening news.

Ah well, I guess we'll have to be happy with DCUC, MOTUC, and Ghostbusters. :D

Peace,

Chip

I sure as hell hope Bandai doesn't get a hold to it. I don't like anything that they do.

Ted, tell us more about Young Justice and the Green Lantern Project if you know anything more about it.

I'm sad to hear the T-Cats are in Limbo. It would have been a nice little line of maybe a dozen or so figures (Lion-o, Panthro, Cheetarah, Tigra, the kittens (as a 2 pack), the four main mutants, and Mummra in both forms). I suppose you could add the newer three cats and maybe the Luna-tacs or whatever they were called, but you'd really be pushing it past four waves or so.

Me, too!

(guessing they aren't using Mia/Speedy because of her pre-hero background, the one Smallville didn't shy away from...)

In all fairness, Mia was never even in Young Justice was she? I thought Arrowette was always the archer in that book. Then again, Miss Martian wasn't in it either...I wonder if Zatara and Offspring will show up?

OMG, I was so mad about that, I am hoping they'll have a follow up episode. What I love about that character, isn't her background, but the fact that she overcame all of that, found out she was HIV+, and STILL went out there, and trained herself to become the new Speedy, and she kicks butt at it too.
I even have a custom JLU figure of her:)
