Marvel Starts The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

October 8, 2008
Marvel Animation, the cartoon division of Marvel Entertainment, is beginning production on "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes," the company's latest animated series.
The Hollywood Reporter says Film Roman, the company behind "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill," has been hired to produce the 26-episode series, which will be available for broadcast in 2011, in time for Marvel Studios' releases of the tentpole live-action movies The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers.
Producing the series is Ciro Nieli, whose credits include "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!" and "Teen Titans." The series' story editor is Christopher Yost, who has worked on the Marvel cartoons "Iron Man Armored Adventures" and "Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes."

(Two things: First, I hope this is better than the last Avengers cartoon. Second, if Hasbro makes toys based on this, they'll more than likely be 3 3/4".)

(Looks interesting. I wonder when Ant-Man will make the transistion to Giant-Man? Will Namor guest star? Will there be any mention of the Invaders?)

Interesting how traditional the lineup on that picture is. The actual one from the comics plus Cap who joined almost right away.

You really think they'd do the Animated Avengers in the 3.75" scale?? I figured with the size they've started with on Spectacular Spiderman would be used for Wolverine and the Xmen as well as Avengers. No biggie to me as I will get some animated Avengers no matter what size, but I may hold off on getting that animated Spidey to go with them until I know more.

Disney Announces The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest HeroesSource: superherohype.comMarch 4, 2010 Disney Channels Worldwide announced its 2010-2011 programming for Disney XD yesterday which includes animated show "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes." Here's the full description: "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" -- Further aligning the strength of Marvel's hugely popular characters and stories with the burgeoning Disney XD brand and global reach, an all-new animated series, "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes," will debut in fall 2010 on Disney XD and DisneyXD.com. Beginning with the "Iron Man" and "Incredible Hulk" movies in 2008, the release of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" follows Marvel's overall "Avengers Assemble" strategy introducing the greatest heroes in the Marvel Universe through various content platforms, including the upcoming feature films "Iron Man 2" in May of 2010, "Thor" in May of 2011 and "Captain America" in July of 2011, all building up to the Avengers theatrical film in 2012. Produced by Marvel Animation, the animated series features 52 episodes targeted at kids 9-14, starring Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Giant Man and Wasp -- who form the Avengers, a team assembled when no single hero's powers can save the world. A 20-part "micro-series" that focuses on each hero's backstory will roll out in fall 2010 on Disney XD, immediately followed by the series premiere on Disney XD in the U.S. and, shortly thereafter, around the world. Disney XD, the single largest distributor of Marvel content around the world, currently showcases approximately 20 hours of Marvel series (including "The Spectacular Spider-Man," "Fantastic Four" and "Iron Man") each week.Mike ( )

Don't worry. I'm sure it will show up in . . . er . . . other places on the net.
I can't wait for this show! I will finally be able to wash that horrible Avengers cartoon from several years back out of my mind!

I'll be watching at Disney XD.com. But does anyone else feel like this is just Super Hero Squad for an older crowd. Just seems to be kinda weird having 2 shows on at the same time, that are basically about the same thing, with the same set of characters.

Yeah, but this one will actually entertain those of us who have ages in the double digits!

Considering how awful SHS is, I am spinning the prayer wheels that the Avengers program is more like the JL/JLU. Hell, I'd settle for Batman Brave & Bold over the SHS tripe...
