I remember seeing these on the shelves back in the day. I wanted the glow-in-the-dark versions, but I couldn't ask my family for every toy that was out there. I loved the carrying case/playset as well. Remco produced a similar version for its Sgt. Rock line a couple of years later.

Same case, different art and inserts, Personally I think this could have made a great Batcave, Fortress of Solitude, or any other themed HQ. CCC.

Aquaman vs. The Creature would be great! One question though, since Aquaman can control the mind of any marine life, couldn't he control The Creatures mind and make him beat himself up, without ever moving a finger???

I would counter that most sea creatures are "lower life forms" compared to the Creature.

I love the detail on the Creature. He (it?) and the Mummy are my favorites. Dracula and the Phantom would have been great if only their palms weren't facing front like they're both saying "why me?" Otherwise, the head sculpts are pretty much on the money. I almost bought a lone, carded Phantom at a Chicago TRUs in 1989. I'm still kicking myself over that one. The Sgt. Rock case looks cool. I agree that there should have been more like these down the line.

So, using this playset as a base, what playset would you create?
Remembering the old Batman tv show, there was as much activity in the bad guys hideout as there was in the batcave. I would do a hideout. Put a platform, kind of like a warehouse dock, accross the inside under the door, have wood or concrete pattern floor on the front flap inside, include a table and chairs in plastic, and some paper "crates" to fold and assemble. Hideouts were always full of crates for combatants to climb, jump off of, and throw at each other.

I have a lone Creature from the Black Lagoon (non glow) with a broken off foot in my box of misfit toy remnants. Would love to get the whole set someday. Thanks for the pics and the conversation about the line!

I've wanted to pick up some more of these (non broken ones) as mine have a lot of wear. Although, there is something pretty nostalgic about how rough they look. As you can see form my avatar, I'm a big fan of these. This was my favorite line as a kid, and I still remember taking them to school for show and tell. Thanks for starting the thread LordMudd!

I have a request. If anyone has Dracula or the Phantom loose with the cape, would you consider removing it and either photographing or photocopying it and posting or pming the pattern to me?

I've read that the non-glow figures are rarer and more expensive, but I prefer the later versions that Chip pictured above. I hope some company could re-release these like NECA did with the 1982 Tomy TRON line so I could have a better shot at them.

I loved this line, and at some point, I'm going to get it all. The good thing is, at least it's a pretty limited line, so you don't have to go absolutely broke for it. Burger King did some kind of re release didn't they? Though I prefer these!
