Now that SDCC has come and gone, and the Mattel crew has revealed some great new DC Universe Classics figures coming in the next few waves. Now it's time for the fans to let Mattel know who we want to see from DC's Golden Age of Superheroes, and what better way than the 2010 AFI DCUC Fan Bracket!

Image

To recap, the DCUC Fan Bracket works just like a sports tournament bracket. The 128 characters are broken up into four equal “Regions”.
You vote on all the matchups for each round every week, until the "Elite Eight" characters are chosen. The final results are then sent to Mattel!

- - - - -

The last Bracket was a lot of fun, but we're doing things a little different this time. This first round of voting will determine 1) the characters choices, and 2) the seeding order entered into the actual bracket. We have 40 characters, and only 32 spots - so we need you to decide who is worthy of making the cut. In addition, your votes will also determine the order of the match-ups. This gives Mattel a much more accurate count of who are the most-wanted characters for DCUC.

Example:
Let's say The Flash is the top vote-getter with 100 votes; he would be the #1 seed in the bracket. And maybe Anna Fortune has the least votes, with 5. She misses the cut at #40. And Tomcat receives 9 votes at the #32 spot; he makes the cut and is paired up against Flash at #1. Just like similar brackets, the #1 vs #32, #2 vs #31, #3 vs #30, #4 vs #29, #5 vs 28, etc etc. Make sense?

Each fan gets to vote for 25 of the 40 characters; only one vote per character (so you cannot vote for Nuklon 25 times). And you only get one chance to vote, so make 'em count! The voting will last for one week, ending next Monday night. The votes will then be counted and organized, and entered into the corresponding Regions on the official Fan Bracket. Once all 4 Regions have been organized, then the head-to-head Fan Bracket matchup voting will begin!

If you have any questions, post them below!

Selection & Seeding Voting: Completed!
Justice Society of America
All-Star Squadron / Young All-Stars / Seven Soldiers of Victory
Freedom Fighters / Infinity, Inc.
JSA Villains

OOoooooooo ....

That's gonna be an interesting bracket.
Are we going to see a mix of classic v contemporary or are we staying in one dedicated era per team?

definite mix, from Golden Age all the way to modern. And most likely someone's favorite character will be left out, but I'm working to get most of the names in.

For reference, the Fan Bracket format:

Okay. This is pretty much exclusively Golden Age/Silver Age stuff, which I'm afraid to admit, I'm severely lacking in knowledge about. I guess I'll have to start doing some research.

What, no Madame Fatal? Surely s/he's just as worthy as the Red Bee and the Jester.

How about including the Young All-Stars - Iron Munro, Neptune Perkins, Tsunami, Flying Fox, the Helena Kosmatos version of the Fury, etc...?

Fatal wasn't a member of any of those teams, otherwise he/she would have been included.

I have been trying to fit the YAS in but I'm running out of room...if the annual polls were any indication, there wasn't much interest. But then again, I don't see anyone clamoring for the Red Bee, either...I'll see what I can do.

No offense, but I could probably skip half that list immediately. Not a big fan of Earth-2 characters when there are so many characters that haven't been made on Earth Prime (or whatever they're calling the main universe these days).

You guys are killing me, smalls. There are some awesome, supertoyetic characters on that list. You might not be familiar with all of them, but that doesn't mean they won't look fantastic on your shelf. Plus, these are the group of characters that the community voted on for this bracket last year, and ToyGuru just discussed the Freedom Fighters and JSA in the latest interview. Give it a chance.
