I dunno. They looked a lot better in the promo pics. And I'm not sure if that cool looking Deadman and Firestorm are that much better sculpted than the DCUC versions.

superfriend - "why not buy this one?"
Because of the age old issue of wanting the team to be in scale with each other. I think he would be too big!
Staying with with the toy company look verses the artist look seems to work best for me.

Ask an honest question, get an honest answer.
And no flaming to be found. I think we've turned a corner here folks (of course we aren't in the Mattel-All forum so that might have something to do with it...)

My biggest problem with DCD is the lack of waists. I know DCD prides itself on paint, and the paint's always great, but with no waist articulation, there's not much you can do with the figure. I'm an articulation guy, but I realize that's not the way Direct goes. I really don't think being able to twist at one's waist would break up the sculpt that much.

Scale is a tricky thing. I guess I'm just old school. Grateful to have the character in that style. I'm from when you would be lucky that they even made the character at all, let alone in a specific style. If the scale is close, it does not bother me.
Hawkman is a big enough name that I could see DCUC revisiting him. Not sure about Deadman. Or even Firestorm. They just are getting to Mars, so I doubt we see this version from them any time soon.
And most of my 6" collection is actually DC Direct.
I've skipped prior versions of some of these, so I am more likely to pick those up since I do not own versions of them in that scale.
Deadman is more likely now that they have added the alternate unmasked head.
Current plans:
Mera - yes. Deadman - high maybe. Firestorm - high maybe. Mars - maybe.
Hawkman - no. Hawkgirl - no. Green Arrow - no. Aquaman - no.
Why the nos? - because I already have DCDirect figures of them that I really like.

I'm planning on getting Mera, so I'll probably get Aquaman to go with her. I only have the DCUC Ocean Camo version, and he's probably too small anyway.

bnjmnrlyr - at 35 posts I am kind of a rookie! But you got that Right - no flames from me. Heck I don't even know how to add a smile face!
superfriend - I agree; scale will always be a tricky issue. I have often mixed & matched different toylines to get what I was looking for. That goes back to the Captain Action & GI JOE Justice League of America I tried to create as a third grader. Orange wet suit GI Joe as Flash & paper cutout Atom! LOL!
Sorry if I have gone off-topic!

OT is always welcome here.
Seems to me like your gonna fit in just fine.
I would love to see pics of your "justice league" from way back when. You sound like a kid who knew how to PLAY with his toys.

I just want Hal, Hawkgirl, and that new Martian Manhunter, and though it's not Brightest Day related. I Really, Really, want a regular costume Gary Frank Superman figure, so get to it DC Direct, Julius you have contacts in DC Direct right? hint hint D.

I'd buy characters in White Lantern uniforms. So far, only an over-priced Sinestro has been produced.

I bought 2 shirts there back in January and the transaction went fine.
