I saw a few of the mini-sodes this weekend (most of them are at Marvel.com). Some of them a very good (Hulk and Thor, in particular), but others are kinda choppy (a couple of the Iron Man ones).
My initial opinion is: It's no JLU, but lightyears better than the last attempt to bring the Avengers to TV.

Thanks for the heads up about Marvel.com. I checked out a couple episodes myself (the Thor one of course ), and I really, really like it. It's definitely not the Avengers cartoon from the 90's.

I keep wondering if the art/animation will improve now that Disney owns Marvel. Yea, it isn't JL/JLU...

While I hate to admit it, because that means the best is behind us, I really think JLU was a perfect storm of creators, voice talent, and a lack of network meddling.
It's hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
Since JLU only Wolverine and the X-men has come close to its complexity and character development, but it was still second rate(Clone Wars is closing the gap, though).
I do have high hopes for Young Justice.
As far as animation goes, the Avengers leaves something to be desired, but I learned with Spectacular Spider-man that you can adjust to almost any kind of animation has long as the stories are decent. That's where Avengers will stand or fall IMO.

Maybe it's just me but: 1.) I don't see anything wrong with the Avengers animation. I actually like it. Although I do think Young Justice looks better. 2.) As much I love/loved JLU, I didn't find that animation to be spectacular. The huge upper body with stick thin legs thing . Although, as an artist myself, I probably look at this stuff with a different eye than most others.

I agree it was stylized, but it seemed a lot more fluid than what I've seen so far from Avengers. The backgrounds seems nicer as well in JLU.

Remember it's an entire hour. They're showing 2 episodes back to back. In the future, I think it will only be a half hour. Very psyched, especially since it doesn't look like any of the micro-ep footage will be used tonight. I bet we'll see some of it eventually, though. A few appeared to be regular episodes chopped into parts. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!

That was a fantastic start to the season. So many villains! So much action! And a great story to boot. I sincerely hope fans get behind this show, and it doesn't go the way of the albatross.
Who pays for all the damage when superheroes and super villains go at it? It looked like they tore up a good chunk of NYC. I can't wait for next week.

A solid outing. Good characterization of the main players (although I find the voice actress for Jan a bit annoying), and many of the voice actors for the villains were inspired (Mad Thinker and Leader especially). Animation fluctuated a bit from very good to choppy to mediocure (the rising and subsequent sinking of New York was terribly animated in some parts, while much of the Graviton fight was excellent). The way they're handling Hulk/Banner shows promise. Not sure I agree with their take on Hank Pym, but they are displaying his power set in creative ways. Thor is probably my favorite interpretation of this show. Just well done throughout. Iron Man's voice actor sometimes nails it, other times sounds whiney/too young. His character is clearly using the movie as a template but pales in comparison. Some of the designs are great. Others, not so much. I dislike Wasp's costume a lot and Blizzard looks like a Captain Cold wannabe. Some of the backgrounds are very elementary, especially when compared to JLU. I'm very curious as to which villains they can use and which they cannot. I always thought the Thinker was an FF villain, but there he was. I guess no Spider-man or X-men baddies, but besides that, who knows? Was Doom the mastermind of the breakout? Overall, I give it an A-. Too many commercials for a half hour show, though. What did we have three or four breaks? And what's with the DisneyXD logo right in the middle of the screen? Very annoying.

I don't care for Wasp's costume at all. Mostly the thing around her head. What the hell is that? It makes her head look a bit LARGE . I had no idea that was Blizzard, because he looked so much like Captain Cold. There are so many layers to the Avengers canon, and I think they've done an excellent job peeling them back, with the micro-episodes and the premiere last night. If/when this series comes to an end, it certainly wont be due to a lack of source material. I'll definitely be keeping all of these episodes on my DVR, until they release a box set at some point.

Missed the premiere, but picked it up and a few episodes that seem to focus on some of the heroes individually. Are these the webisodes that folks were talking about early on in the thread? So far I've seen Iron Man and Thor and it looks like Hulk, Cap, Ant Man and Wasp are next? Am I missing any or do you think they'll play all of them eventually? Loving the voice acting so far. The guy doing Tony has a pretty spot on RDJ and I like the combination of new and old Thor interpretation. Not to mention Nick Fury and agents of SHIELD. With the exception of that Linkin Park craptastic theme song. Don't know if that is them or not, but it just blows IMO
