I found these at Target on Thursday. Held Sword Spike Thor, Odin and Loki for a bit. Odin's facial sculpt just seemed to soft and Loki's a bit soft looking too, plus he was just boring. I purchased Thor, but I will probably take him back. Paint apps on the face are sloppy -- his beard and mustache are lopsided -- and it's just not an inspiring figure. I may grab a better Thor later to go with movie Iron Man and Captain America. But thus far, with no comic line to match it, Thor is a dud for me.

I'm gonna have to side with you, TRDouble. That's saying a lot, since I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest Thor fan here. I saw the line for the first time in person, and I was completely underwhelmed. I hate to say it, but the Iron Man movie figures were/are a lot better than these. I've gone from thinking that this would be the first line that I would be a completist in, to not wanting to collect them at all. I picked up Loki though. He'll be my stand in until MU gives me a proper one in the Frost Giant 2-pack.

I've always disliked movie likenesses, but I thought this line would be the exception because of my love for the Thor property. I was sadly mistaken. Maybe once (or if) I see the Warriors Three, Destroyer and Lady Sif on the pegs I'll change my mind. But this first wave is a complete pass for me.

Back on topic, though. I think the Frost Giants are decent. I picked up a couple of those.

Yeah, I bought one Thor, Odin, Loki, and FG, but they're all still firmly in their packages. Who knows if I'll keep them?

I did think that the Frost Giants looked really good. That was it.

Add me to the list of the underwhelmed. I found these the other day and was excited at first, but upon further inspection none of them grabbed me. I have all of the Iron Man figures (well, all that are out in stores) and all of the Marvel Universe figs, but these Thor guys didn't seem as cool as the Iron Man line or as fun as the MU line.

Maybe I'll change my mind after I see the movie. I am looking forward to the Captain America line, though.

As sad as it is, I'm just excited for a standard black-belt MU Cap. I still wish we could get a Reb Brown Cap out of that line, clear shield and all.

I wonder why there's no Thor comic series? It wouldn't have to be huge or complicated (or as main-character-heavy as IM2), and it seems to me that it would sell proportionally as well as the IM2 comic series figs did... :-/

Eric, I don't think any of us understand the rationale behind not doing a comic line for Thor. I think it would easily sell better than the movie line. Especially with collectors.

I have to wonder if maybe Hasbro was worried about potential religious blow back from having pagan god action figures in the toy aisle.

I don't think it sounds nuts at all. I think I mentioned something similar earlier in this thread. I was wondering if that's why this line is so much more limited in it's scope than say Iron man or Captain America.
