I don't see a dedicated topic on the subject, so I hope it's alright that I start one! The DCIH thread is over 350 pages long, but this is definitely a whole new line.
There are reports of GL Movie 3.75" (or 4", depending on the source) figures hitting TRUs and Walmarts already. I'm excited by the character selection Mattel is offering in the basic figure assortment - lots of GL Corps aliens to display with the dozens of DCIH figures and same-scale customs I've amassed. Mattel is worlds behind Hasbro in their sculpting and articulation in this scale—which is crazy frustrating for me as I've stated elsewhere in the forums—but I appreciate that at least we're getting a lot of characters.
What can we expect? Here's what I've seen so far from press releases, Toy Fair, Wondercon etc.:
Green Lantern Hal Jordan (+ various decos, Max Charge version, etc.) Mask-less Hal GL Test Pilot Hal Jordan Sinestro (+ various decos) Kilowog (+ various decos) Abin Sur (+ various decos) G'hu Galius Zed Green Man Hannu Isamot Kol Stel Tomar Re Voz GotU Krona GotU Ranakar (in Walmart 2-pack w/ Kilowog) 5 other Guardian/GL 2-packs Pilot Martin Jordan (Kmart exclusive, with Pilot Hal & parachute)

Ah, I forgot about the Parallax Deluxe Set with Hal GL. He's a character, so he should be on the list.

So I stopped at TRU today and on my way out a manager said "Where are you going? You can't leave empty-handed." So I asked her where the GL movie merchandise was and she said one guy came in earlier in the week and cleaned them out, but they would be getting more, so I ask where the empty display was and she said they folded it up and put it in the back. Does she really think I am as stupid as she obviously is?

Why do the Guardians in the movie have names?
That's always been a big point with the Guardians in the comics, no names. The weren't individuals, they were a collective. Krona had a name and he was a rogue outcast. Ganthet took a name when he was the "last Guardian". As of Blackest Night, a few Guardians are starting to name themselves as they leave.
It really bothers me that the movie Guardians have names.

It really bothers me that the movie Guardians have names. Ganthet, Ali Apsa, Erupa and Scar are the few I can remember. I know it's almost a rule to not have a name, but you know the rules...

I am somewhat surprised that Mattel opted to make so many unique members of the Lantern Corp which is cool...but can I just ask why there is not ONE single female character? No Boodika, Arisia or Carol Ferris? Boo.

Do these figures have no elbow or knee articulation? That's how it appeared to me in pics I saw of them. If so, that is a big disappointment. I loved the Infinite Heroes, flawed as they were. Taking a step backwards is not a good step.

Yeah.
BIG step backwards.
Matty's reasoning..."the collector line is the 6" figures. The 3 3/4" are for kids. Articulation doesn't matter to them and we wanted to keep the price point lower."
So much for learning from our mistakes, huh Matty?
Also, I thought the "Street Date" for these figures was May 1. (Yes, I know that toy lines don't generally have "street dates", but when they are tied into a "big summer blockbuster" they most certainly do. Plus Matty has said several times that these figures are set for a MAY 1 release [that specifically]). I wonder how some of these HEBs (what the hell is a HEB?) and TRUs are getting stock in and set up so far in advance?

So much for learning from our mistakes, huh Matty? To quote my 2nd favorite superhero: "I know, right?!" On a positive note, the sculpts seem a step up from most of the DCIH figures Mattel released. They used digital scans from WB to create the face sculpts and the alien GLs, and I think it shows. They really could have knocked the ball out of the park if they'd included multiple points of articulation—at least for the humanoid characters. And they could have reused the same body parts for multiple Hal, Sinestro and Abin Sur figures. I read on another site that TRUs price point for 4" figures is $8.99. The deluxe figs (Battle Shifters, etc.) are $14.99-$15.99. Again, this is better than DCIH in my mind, because each basic figure includes a construct and a GL ring, whereas the little DCIH buggers were that much with no pack-ins (at least at the end of the line).
