Hi! Welcome to my customs thread. Thanks so much for looking.
All the great customizers out there have inspired me to do some of my own. It's taken awhile to accumulate enough fodder and materials but now I think I'm ready. I'll be working on DCIH customs first and then moving onto DCUC customs in a few weeks, hopefully. I'm doing DCIH Batman characters right now and then I'll be moving on to Sinestro Corp characters and then Green Lantern Corp characters. I'm always looking for your extra *CHEAP* DCIH figures if you don't want then anymore.
I'm a 2D artist but I'm not great at 3 dimensional sculpting and painting. But I try! I don't have any fancy tools and materials and I don't do any hardcore modifications. Mostly just small sculpts, repaints and head swaps. I just use what I have around the house. I use:
X-Acto Blade, sandpaper and nail files. Acrylic Paint-Citadel brand, but I sometime use the cheaper quality acrylics at Walmart. Molding Paste and Matte medium. Brushes-mostly synthetics. Filberts and Rounds. Faber Castell Felt tip Pitt pens Super Sculpey Super Glue
Thanks!

First up: Spoiler and Red Robin: I've wanted a Red Robin in plastic form. I hope they at least make him in the DCUC. But I couldn't make a Tim without making his on/off again gal pal Stephanie Brown. Spoiler is probably my most wanted figure in the DCIH and DCUC lines. One of my top favorite costume designs even though she's currently Batgirl. Red Robin makes use of the DCIH Black Hand figure. I sandpapered off the relief details and then sculpted and boiled the belt, flaps, chest straps and capsules. His staff is made out of a Q-tip that is painted and sealed with Matte medium. Spoiler makes use of the Raven DCIH figure. The new head is sculpted over the old head, as well as the belts, straps and capsules. her gloves and boots are painted with a dark blue rather than black. Thanks for looking. I'll be doing more to fill out my Batman Incorporated team so come back again.

I'm back! I've been (impatiently) waiting for the Green Lantern 4 inch Movie line to hit the stores (Where are they?!?!)... Meanwhile, I decided to add to my GL CORP with some customs! New Recruits... Green Lantern LYSANDRASector 47: I'm really happy with this one. I made her out of Starfire who is a plentiful figure in the line. Green Lantern KATMA TUISector 1417: Katma Tui was made out of a Star Sapphire body and a Raven head. I was surprised to find that Raven had sculpted hair when I tore off her hood. The problem with this custom is that Raven's head looked way too small on the adult female body so I sculpted new hair on Katma, giving it a fuller look and giving the illusion that her head is bigger. I admit, the green I used is a cooler, "bluer" green but It looks better in person. I'm going to be trying a greener green next time. Green lantern KYLE RAYNERSector 2814 Kyle was made out of a Parallax body and a Dick Grayson Renegade head. I was using my Morrison JLA books for reference, but i coundn't figure out if the white chest band consistently wraps around to his back. I might trim his arm bracelets. Green lantern STELSector: 3009 Stel is made out of an Iron Man 4-inch line Titanium Man. I Just painted his head and made the chest emblem with a shirt button. His alpha lantern look seems to change a lot in the comics. Green Lantern Sector TOMAR RE Sector 2813 Tomar's head is a crappy original head-sculpt. Also, it's crappy. Did you also consider it's crappyness? Hey, I TRY. These 3 3/4 inch figures are SMALL!! No matter, I'll do a a new Tomar when the movie Tomar figure hits the aisles and then I can do a proper modification on that head. The team so far: Thanks for looking! I always love feedback... what you like , what you don't like, what could be improved. I'm working on some MORE Green Lanterns. And some Sinestro Corp DCIH customs that I'm very excited about. Also some Batman characters. And some DCU Classics Sinestro corp and GL Corp guys. Thanks for looking , come back anytime

Yeah that is a crappy head on Tomar, main reason I haven't tried one. Would turn out about the same. I may consider a modified movie head later. The hair on Katma turned out real good. I was surprised that was a Raven head. You might want to consider my Kreon, a blonde Lexcorp Trooper head on a Hal body with yellow eye and hand. Here is another idea I am looking at I got from Angel, color print your logos and decoupage them on. I am doing a Brokk now I will do that with and if it works well enough, I will probably redo my Lysandra and Leezle Pon GL logos.

CCC. Yeah, my sculpting and painting is better on the big 6 inch figures. At the smaller scale, I'm limited to sculpting simple costume parts. Heads are to tough. Decoupaging (or Matte medium, I use that) emblems is the way to go, definitely, it's just that I can't find good emblems online. The real way to go is to make your own in Adobe Illustrator, which I have , which I'm going to try when I have the time.

Try googling Green Lantern Logo. If you can't find one exactly like you want, find one the right shape, save it into paint as a bitmap, and recolor it yourself.

New ones! Sinestro Corp TEKIKSector 3281 I put a lot of work into this guy. ( Whoops, I forgot to put on his shoulder pads for these other photos.) He was originally a Marvel Universe Ultron. I cut off some parts and sculpted some new features. The jetpack comes from the DCIH Adam Strange. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Sinestro Corp AMON SURSector 2814 Amon Sur uses the Sinestro body and the DCIH green glow John Stewart head. I suppose he could have more comic-accurate boots and the ring on his right finger. Maybe I'll change it. My Sinestro Corp is growing!! ------------------------------------------------------------------ POISON IVY Ivy is actually the first custom I started but I put it to the side for months and returned to it recently. I'm pretty happy with the paint job. She's a DCIH Starfire with the leaves and plants applied on with molding paste so they would be in relief and stick out. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ORACLE (aka Barbara Gordon) Ah, Oracle. It was nice knowing you. By September, you'll just be a casualty in the great DC Cleansing Of The Palette Of 2011. What a shame. What a fantastic character. I made Babs from a Marvel Universe Mary Jane Watson. The wheelchair is from an Avatar Jake Sully figure and I painted it bluish gray. It looks simple, but I had to paint on the glasses with a tiny strand of molding paste and then paint it black after it dried. Really difficult!! My Batman Inc. team is getting there. Thanks for looking!

I still need to touch these up, but here's two more members for my Sinestro Corp: Karu-Sil I made her out of a Wondergirl figure. Superboy Prime I made him with a Renegade body, a Parallax cape and a Superman head. My Sinestro Corp with Anti-Monitor.
