The Titans do NOT suck. Go read Wolfman and Perez stories in The New Teen Titans starting in 1980. Some fantastic stories in there.

The new status quo states that Superman is now the very first DC superhero. Again. Seeing how the Trinity's origins have been tweaked several times over in order to keep 'em young... WHY NOT JUST DO THE SAME FOR THE FREAKIN' JSA??? :x

Seriously, you have stand-alone characters like Hourman and Wildcat with no Earth-1 counterpart. So turn Miraclo into a modern drug and have Ted Grant be a contemporary of Manny Pacquiao. If Michael Holt is getting his own series, I don't see why Pieter Cross couldn't exist as well. They were best friends and Mid-Nite is the DCU's resident physician to the spandex crowd.

The JSA's WWII roots can't seem to last yet another reboot, so just de-age everybody already and have them fit into the DCU's newest incarnation. They don't have to be anybody's predecessors or establish legacies anymore. They could operate as competition for the League or simply work on an opposite coast like when the Avengers used to run their East and West divisions.

Heck, why not just merge the teams already. Dr. Fate and Power Girl were easily folded into the JLI. Guys like Jay Garrick worked with the team for a brief time and J'onn once recruited Hourman for the JLA Task Force just before Zero Hour.

If fans keep asking for these characters, DC will find a way to make those merchandising dollars dance their way into Warner share holders' bank accounts.

It CAN be done.

If they're going to make Superman, Batman and the others younger, then why not make the JSA be slightly older than them. I mean if Superman is 25 now, then why can't Jay Garrick be 45?

It would upset their "brilliant" plan to present Superman to new readers as El Numero Uno.

Given that the pioneering Clark Kent is now in his twenties, a forty-something Jay Garrick would have to be an awful late bloomer when it comes to his own superhero career. Maybe Jay's laboratory accident now occurs while teaching college to guys like Clark. But where would that place Barry's origin story? Before Jay's, of course.

Heck of a headache inducer, ain't it?

nah, that's easy. threatened by this new "Super Man", some bad guy goes back in time to prevent "The Super Man" from ever happening somehow, so superman has to chase the bad guy back into the past and enlist the help of some other people who get super powers both miraculously and coincidentally and they become the american society of justice or something along those lines. then superman goes forward in time, but leaves them back in the past with their friends and families, so by the time superman is back in the present, the jsa are all old farts again, just like we like 'em. easy fix. next?

Wow the animosity in here is great, why can't everyone just give these new titles a chance and actually see what is going to happen, instead of dooming and praying for doom on the new universe, me personally I hope it stays - and I am looking forward to the new universe.

I like some other people are just getting back into reading comics again will find this great, others like the old guard need to get used to it, because it is happening.

And to be honest I wish they would do this with Marvel as well, yes I can hear the groans and cries now, lol.

I'll point out that Geoff Johns is one of the "old guard", responsible for turning back the clock and bringing Hal Jordan and Barry Allen back to the DCU. GJ was also a driving force in bringing the JSA back to popularity over the past 10 years, and got them on several episodes of Smallville.

The bottom line is this. Some of us know what we want and eventually things might go in that direction. Example of a personal goal - it took over 20 years to get Black Lightning in the Justice League, but it did finally happen.

And that's fine, however why whinge and broogle at something that hasn't even appeared yet, why not see what this is going to be like then if something you want to see and would love brought back might be if you campaigned for it in the right way - but if you are all spitting out pacifiers because things are changing they are less likely to listen to you, especially if the new crowd they are hopeing to bring back or bring in for the first time are bigger than the ones that are bitching about the lack of something (Be it Character, Team or even World).

What I see is a lot of chicken littles running around foretelling the doom of the DCU, when in reality they are getting something that could be really cool and new.

A more recent example. James Robinson is writing the current JLA. Lots of people, not just I, complained that the cast was a bunch of replacements and stand ins. Wally West and Kyle Rayner made sense as the Flash and Green Lantern on the team while Barry Allen and Hal Jordan were unavailable. But filling the JLA with Titans and Infinity Inc members when the actual heroes are available makes no sense. Yet Robinson insists on having Dick Grayson, Kara Zor-El, Donna Troy, Jade, and Jesse Quick as the core of his JLA. I campaigned along with dozens of others for this League to end to the point of blogging here, posting on DC's message boards, dropping the book and encouraging others to do the same.

This new JLA is much closer to what I desire.

Ok so the Titans did not suck in the Perez years but it has fallen a lot since most of the core members are not on the team anymore. I hope DC will be able to fit the JSA in this new reboot. It just seems like it would not be the same without them. There were so many characters and it would be ashame not to include them. Maybe this is a trial period and if the reboot doesnt appeal to the younger kids then maybe by some miraculous event will put it all back like it was. Lord knows thats happened so many times.

something that just occurred to me...I keep seeing this "new 52" message and it hit me - maybe every single one of these new 52 titles is taking place on a different Earth in the DCnU Multiverse.

Each book will slowly reveal the uniqueness of that Earth, along with the other characters, teams, and history. Maybe that's why some of these new books seem conflicting - they take place in the past, some are unchanged, some are totally different. This might be a cool way to explain all the various X-treme changes while keeping the current DCU intact...

I don't think I could give DC editorial that much credit.

It would be nice, but I doubt it.

And the #2 issues solicits for Oct. are starting to roll out and the Bat books in particular seem to be very connected.

I know that I will be picking up a few DC titles when the reboot takes place. Right now I'm only reading IDW's Transformers.

I'm clinging to a hope that this spirals out of FlashPoint and that down the road this temporal damage is fixed to a point, where they can then fold some of these brand new elements into the current DC Universe and appease everyone. I just hate that Action Comics is begining over... again!
