Quote: LEGO Gets Full DC Comics License
Warner Bros. has expanded its relationship with Lego, granting the toymaker access to DC Entertainment’s complete library of comicbook characters and stories to launch DC Universe “Super Heroes” as figures and playsets.
The multi-year licensing deal, made through Warner Bros. Consumer Products, will start rolling out the new line in January, starting with 13 characters, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and villains the Joker, Bane, Harley Quinn and Lex Luthor.
The first toys will be shown off at the Lego booth at Comic-Con Intl. in San Diego, where 3,000 exclusive Batman and Green Lantern minifigures will be distributed to launch a promo that runs August-December, enabling fans to create and submit videos, photos or illustrations of the characters to win trips to Legoland and Warner Bros. Studios.
WB and Lego had already been producing toys and videogames around the Batman franchise, and will launch a new set of playthings around next summer’s “The Dark Knight Rises” through the Lego Batman collection. The “Lego Batman: The Videogame,” published by WB Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has sold more than 12 million units since 2008.”This partnership gives builders a chance to recreate the characters, vehicles and worlds of some of the most iconic super heroes, so they can relive the action and even customize it, a proven and winning formula in Lego construction,” said Jill Wilfert, VP, licensing and entertainment for the Lego Group. http://www.variety.com/article/VR111804 ... Crap.....
Some of the first sets-- My guess is Hall of Justice and Legion of Doom-- both with really expensive sets of exclusive mini figures..... all which will cost more than any of the chase figures that Mattell puts out...
At least this means will get that JLU Lego game at some point...

After Marvel Legends, this is the best news for me coming out of the Con. I can't wait for my Aquaman Atlantis set! If I can't get my DC mini-mates anymore, DC lego people will have to do.

What's incredible, LEGO having the Dc license, or having the DC *and* Marvel License? I wish I liked LEGOs...

So they have DC, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, Harry Potter, Ben 10 , Spongebob (of course some of these never to return)
All thats left is GI Joe and Transformers, Hot Wheels (and hopefully, I dont see them getting them anytime soon)
God I hope they keep up those magnets and keychains-- thats the only way to afford the minifigs...
However I hope they keep their Lego Style and classic looks, and ditch the movie looks-- thats why Spiderman Legos suffered the first time..

Well they said 13 characters-- anyone want to guess the other 5?
Known Batman ,Wonder Woman ,Superman,Green Lantern Joker,Bane,Harley Quinn,Lex Luthor
Im guessing they will give us Flash- and then reissue 4 of the others-- Scarecrow, Riddler, Killer Croc. Nightwing, Robin, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Catwoman, Two Face.
Id like to at least see cheetah though..

while i think the lego toys are super awesome, i cant afford any of them, unfortunately. however, if things go like i think they will lego will have done what arkham asylum, ghostbusters and arkham city have not yet managed to do: get me to buy a ps3. cause if lego dcu and lego mu video games are slated to come out, i am on board with that.

Pictures Here and Here-- Bionicle Style-- http://www.toyark.com/news/san-diego-co ... erse-4431/I dont know why lego keeps trying to go to the well on these Build a figures-- the Ben10s and Toy Storys went straight to clearance (Cars is headed that way as well)-- they just need to stick to the minifigs And minifigs here http://www.toyark.com/news/san-diego-co ... sdcc-4426/However it looks like the Marvels were just slapped together right before the show-- they look badly painted and very rough even for Legos, and the DC ones just look off as well (meaning WW and SUpes)--Since all the other batman ones came straight from the original production lines.. Did they just get this license-- were that that unprepared?

Ew. Those Bionicle ones looks horrible. The actual bases being used (the Hero Factory ones) are reaaally good, but I don't like the idea of them being used for stuff other than that or Bionicle. I could see myself buying a Batman if they make him Black/Gray, though.
The DC minifigs look good, but I don't like the Marvel ones (mainly because of what you said, probably).
