After finding the KONG play set I was surfing the web for some reference pics - and found this massive ape pictured in someone's yard.

Technically that would be a statue, not a toy because you can't plat with it. You can play ON it though. Reminds me of the full scale GL at the museum in OK, but that isn't poseable either. I would love to make a lifesize, articulated action figure, just for the hell of it, but the wife would kill me. Have to wait until I get my new shed out back.

There are plenty of Action Figures that routinely clock in somewhere around the 24" mark. And there was that SDCC exclusive Anti Monitor that is somewhere near 3' tall (but please don't get me started on that).

Officially, I have no idea what the "largest toy" is but I bet Guinness knows ...

Hmm... after a few quick searches ... toys seem to be an area that even Guinness doesn't pay much attention to. Unless it is "largest collection" or "largest event (toy gun fight, lego building, train setups, etc.)

Anyone know of anything that clocks in over the 30" mark that might hold the title of World's Biggest Toy? (and, no, those "adult aides" don't even begin to count ... )

There's also the Great Mazinger that stands at 36" tall. And it's for boys this time. I think it's made by Bandai.

These 2 were also roughly 3 feet tall, if I remember correctly.

Fortress Maximus from G1 Transformers comes to mind.

If you were to include things like Erector sets and Tinker Toys even Kong up there could be considered small strictly from a measurement stand-point. Plush toys would be the same, think about some of those huge prizes that you've seen at fairs and amusment parks.

What about the G.I. Joe USS Flagg?

That would depend on if it was just a toy or if you were talking about the difference between a figure/ vehicle/ or playset. Both the Flagg and the Erector set could be considered playsets. If you Google playset, you get backyard swing sets and jungle gyms too.

The Flagg may be considered a playset but i count it as GI Joe's one big item which came about the same time as Foretress Maximus within a year or so. I owned Fortress Maximus as my love for Transformers and not so much Yo Joe! But I hold them as some of the biggest toys out there.

I hate to open up this can of worms, but if we are adding playsets and what not into the mix we kinda hafta start including the Model Train guys. Some of those things are massively expansive (and expensive) and the recreations of actual trains and train routes is impressive on the obsessive level.

Also, if we are going there, you'd better include the Domino Rally people. Ripley's has pages of those people's efforts.

This is why I brought up the distinction between figure, vehicle, and playset. I think a figure is a toy, as in singular, whereas dominoes are a set of toys. Therefore, a vehicle is singular and a playset by it's name is a set, plural. The Flagg walks a fine line because is it a vehicle or a playset? When we talk about the biggest toy, I feel we are being singular.

If you wanted to toss in playsets (and no I would discount model trains just cause I'm predjudice! ) The Sectaurs The Hive and those Mego playsets like Wayne Tower/ Batcave sort of become contenders too...
