...is pretty good, actually. This is the first Ghostbusters thing I've enjoyed since, well, really since the first movie. I mean, other than that awesome scene in Zombieland and Mattel's action figure line. Haven't played the new game yet. I hear it's awesome. The nintendo version was NOT.
So far, it's been kind of a weird mix of Ghostbuster lore.
They clearly are acknowledging the 2 movies. I don't know if there's anything about the game in here, but they're not acknowledging the cartoon's existance at all. Well, except that Janine looks exactly like she does in the cartoon. They're also referencing [what i assume is] whatever happened in the Blackest Zombies "Infestation " crossover with Trek, Joe and the Trannies, but I didn't read that because it looked trite and stupid and cheesy as f***. Also, Jake Blues is in the first issue. Kinda makes me wonder if John Candy from the Great Outdoors is gonna pop in at some point.
Speaking of that, there's also little, I guess you'd call em "Easter Eggs" thrown in.
In issue 1, on Janine's desk toward the beginning, there's a devil holding a lightning bolt next to her computer in one panel. I don't know what that's all about, but I just got issue 2 today and already noticed the baby in the stroller next to the couple at the end is clearly an infant version of Egon from the Real Ghostbusters cartoon and in the overview of the bridge there's that yellow VW that turns into a mantis from the RGB toy line heading in the opposite direction that Ecto-1 is heading.
Anybody else spot any other ones?
Also, the stuff at the end of issue 1 was pretty cool, and while the story isnt really there, the stuff at the end of 2 was cool to see.
And then the very end is kid's fan art.
Just kinda weird; real cartoony style interiors but actually spooky story lines and adult themes both in the dialogue and plot. like a kid's comic written for adults. but I've enjoyed it so far. Anybody else reading it?
