Sure they do but then so does everyone else. Every company that you collect from can just about drive you bonkers... for every Mattel story I can share just as terrible Character Options story.

I'm pretty sure a majority of the "crazies" are crazy before they started collecting Mattel products. They just didn't have such an open forum to display said craziness.

I do remember plenty of scorn for Hasbro/Kenner back in the day with their recolored Batmans and shortpacked villains/female characters. And before that it was collectors couldn't find a Batman or Robin admist pegs and pegs of villains.

I just subscribe to the old addage of "haters gonna hate".

Not I. Which is why I dropped JLU like a hot potato. I'm much more at peace now.

Not at all. I am ok with being a after thought to them as their main source of income is kids and that should be their focus. I'd do the same thing in a business. You cater to your cash cow which is kids not us.

Interesting article, but I like this one by Cool Toy Review myself. While the lines in the stores might be focused on kids(their bread and butter), Matty is primarily geared towards collectors. So that argument doesn't really apply here. I love JLU, but at this point I feel like I'm having a carrot waved in front of me when it comes to this line.

The thread and article say Mattel not Matty and I think everyone knows the later is geared towards collectors so sure the argument does. Even so Matty was created to make a little extra money I'm sure and isn't and shouldn't be a main focus for Mattel anyway.Look, I would be tickled if Mattel granted all of my wishes but it just is not feasible and this expectation from collectors for Mattel to continue to take a loss on a line that is not performing well and has been on it's last legs for years is well, laughable. Ask any business owner and they would laugh at that one.

Why should Mattel continue to try and cater to the smaller market because they are loud? Honestly if I was taking a loss (according to them) on these I would of killed the line a LONG time ago. They are in business to make money not grant grown ups every wish because they have entitlement issues.

I love the JLU too but I'm honestly tired of it. If these last 3 packs get released then people will start whining about more figures. It's never going to end until they just kill it and these boards would be all the better for it as I don't have to sift through a bunch of crazy talk all the time with people whining about little plastic toys and how Mattel is the devil. It's been getting old for years but I am sure that people will find something else to whine about. Just the way it is with some people like Kevfett said "haters gonna hate".

Yeah.
My main collection is Batman and related universe characters.
Currently...
Either they have cancelled or dropped the ball on lines I collect (JLU, B:BatB).
Or they have made lines that I would have thought about collecting too expensive for my tastes (JLU in its last days, YJ).
Right now, unless you have money and/or collect the 6in stuff, there really isn't any thing out there.

Filling that void with Power Rangers and a little Doctor Who.
