Or at least the first you remember? The earliest one I can confirm I had (because I still have the parts to it) was this one: Apparently, it came out in 1974! I can't believe my folks would give me Legos at the tender age of three, so they must have picked it up later. Since it floated (and had little heavy ballast things that connected underneath to keep it upright), it doubled as a pool and bath toy. This was my first mini-fig set (circe 1979): I LOVED the Space series and probably owned a dozen of them. My favorite set as a kid, though, wasn't space related. It was this little beauty: How abot you guys?

Here is my first set. I didn't have too many when I was small, but got this later on

I honestly don't recall which was my "first set".
I know I had several buckets of the generic sets. I had police, and fireman, and space. I know I had the one with the House on the box front.
My memory of it all is a bit fuzzy, one day I didn't have Legos and the next they were seemingly all over the house.
And to this day I don't know if I lost more to the heat return vent or the vacuum cleaner...?

My first one was a Lego Mobile Crane Set #490 before the minifigs-- some research says 1974-- But since I wasnt born yet- Im guessing my parents got it on clearance several years later.
My second set was the 6364 Paramedic Unit-- ...
That was about all I had until the mighty Kings Castle, and the Forestmans Hideout-- I then got all of those early castle sets (gray bricks not yellow) I built them all the time- even used them in dioramas more times than I can count...

I might have had that Mobile Crane set, Stew, because I do have the cool yellow over-sized clamp piece. I wonder if other sets had it?

That was the most awesome piece ever-- for some reason I used to carry that around and use it even when it wasnt attached to lego-- It was a a sad day when that spring broke...

Never had Legos as a kid... was never interested. I think I may have had this generic private plane set but I can't be sure if it was mine or a friend who brought it over to build. Does Character Builders count?

Wow. How weird. My first set was ALSO that same space set. AND I have that original yellow castle too.
I had a LOT of the Space stuff from 79-84-ish and most of the castle stuff from that same time period.
I still have ALL of my Lego stuff from when I was a kid up in my parent's attic.

Began in 1930's, in Denmark.
IIRC it was started by a railroad hobby company as an inexpensive way to build settings for r/c trains.
It has since blossomed into the toy dynasty that we know and love today.
Wow. Almost 100 years of brick building. Awesome.

I have no clue which specific Lego set was my first. I don't recall ever not having Lego toys, so we're talking about a three or four year old Howard the Duck, then. I can all but guarantee it was one of the old Space sets. I had zero interest in any other Lego sets outside of the outer space variety.
