I'll be honest...the money I spent on all of these. Then the Final crisis. While the storytelling wasn't great...I have to say that I really am starting to hate the DCnU. I feel like it really does erase the importance of a lot of these, even if these stories weren't great.

I hate that.

Infinite Crisis was flawed and rushed, with many uncharacteristic storytelling. 52 was actually a solid read, but Countdown and Final Crisis were a total waste.

I suggest going back and reading the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, and tracking down some of the other DC crossovers that were a lot more fun - Marvel vs DC, Underworld Unleashed, DC One Million, even Day of Judgment.

And stay away from Bloodlines and Zero Hour. haha

I'm not saying I disagree (and I've read all of that, have all of that). I just felt like reading back through.

And while Countdown really didn't accomplish anything, I liked where it went with the Captain Atom thing. I also felt like there was some character development (especially in 52) and things that were led to be important, that quite honestly have to have been wiped out.

Superboy's importance. Superboy Prime's importance. The Big 3 being at odd's, etc. I'm not sure how they can "retcon" DCnU to fit in with that, without completely whiping out the importance of it.

\And I loved Zero Hour, even though I know it was horrible.

ah, my bad...I looked at the thread title and saw "read"...not "reread"...

Zero Hour had a few entertaining moments, but I felt that many parts were silly and over-dramatic, and the disrespect that DC showed to the JSA was unforgivable to me.

I just thought that's how 90's comics were.

I dunno. For the most part, I don't have a problem with DC wanting to freshen things up. Get out some stories with our characters being younger. Trying to fit more into a smaller timeframe so the characters don't have to age so much. But Doomsday, Crisis, Superboy (Conner Kent dying), aspects of some characters that I loved...I'm starting to miss some of that.

Although I will say this: I'm a bit behind. I haven't read all the issue #3's yet, so I'm 1 and 2 issues behind in some stories.

I just hate deaths that get erased.

I don't know.
I could have lived without
Zero Hour - Hourman, Dr. Midnite, the Atom,
Identity Crisis - Sue Dibny.
52 - Elongated Man, Question.
Infinite Crisis - Ted Kord, the Freedom Fighters, Superboy, Superman of Earth 2.
Final Crisis - Martian Manhunter.

I know some of them set up some great stories, and we got a number of them back in Brightest Day, but I would have preferred some of those - especially Identity Crisis and Countdown to Infinite Crisis - had never been printed.

Speaking of saves, Joe Kelly saved Aquaman and Guy Gardner who were both tossed aside as useless (pointlessly killed) in Our Worlds At War.

I felt like both of the their deaths were important. And while I realize Superboy ultimately came back, I feel like DCnU completely cheapens what they did in IC. Especially Ted Kord...even if he is still dead. How much of IC actually happened, and how did it happen?

I miss Ted, but I felt like his death was one of the most important deaths in comics in a long time. I really like how it impacted Booster.

Actually Identity Crisis-- I think really actually led to some really interesting Trickle down effects, the whole Dr. Light Concept, the Batman at Odds with the JL and his relationship with Zatanna, the impact and changes created in Tim and his relationship with his extended family, the New Captain Boomerang storylines and the interaction with the Bat Family....

But since I had no attachement to the Dibnys or the Atom-- I guess those deaths had no impact on the stories I read or even any sense of loss of characters that meant anything to me, I had heard of Ralph before- but didnt even know of Sue until she died.....
