Oh, I like this thread.
Let's see...of course there were the classics: Monopoly, Risk, Stratego, Clue, and probably a dozen more.
Then there were the "interactive" games: Hungry-Hungry Hippos, Bombs Away, and, of course, Rock and Sock 'Em Robots.
And let us not forget the super-hero themed Spider-man (with the FF) and Captain America (with the Falcon). My first girlfriend and I used to play those two for hours at a time. We were seven.
God I'm old.
I need a drink. I hate this thread!

The Superfly wrote: DogfightThis one is my hands-down favorite. My family would play this game together in our summer cabin in Missouri, so it holds a great deal of sentimental value. And it is just a great game. I have tried to take it from the cabin, but my folks insist on keeping it there. Bah! Thread from the dead! Last year for for Christmas, my wife managed to track down a great vintage copy of this...I was floored. So awesome.

DUNGEON! was totally awesome. I also had the Jaws game where you had to "fish" stuff out of it's mouth. Last one to get something out without the jaw snapping shut won. Of course, it doubled as an action figure to chomp down my Aquaman Mego. Stratego, Risk, Axis and Allies, even Monopoly.

Loved MOUSE TRAP and SONAR SUB HUNT! Still have them both and lucked and and found an orange box version of SONAR SUB HUNT in better shape a few years ago and sold that one and kept our original one. Still have our original MOUSE TRAP plus a couple of 70's box versions of it. Bought a newer one for my kids when they were little. Love the Mouse Trap follow-up CRAZY CLOCK, but never had it as a kid.

I heartily agree with the epic nature of the previously mentioned Torpedo Run and Crossbows & Catapults! A few other childhood favorites included: "Don't Tip the Waiter" "Ants in your Pants" "Run Yourself Ragged" http://www.jeff-z.com/pinball/toys/ryr/ryr.html"Don't Break the Ice" There's another one that I can't recall the name of. The premise was to use fishing rods with magnets to "fish" for cardboard fish, but the cardboard fishing area also contained garbage and a skunk with a foul smelling scratch and sniff sticker called the "stinker". The player who caught the "stinker" had to smell it and then place it back into the fishing area. Anyone remember that one? - Mike

Ken, I don't think it came in a wooden box. It had a cardboard game board, IIRC, and then the fishing area, which was also printed cardboard and designed to look like a large wooden fishing tub, hooked into the board. The fishing poles were simply long wooden rods with the magnets attached via string. The fish, junk, and stinker (all printed cardboard type material as well) had little metal "c" shaped pieces that the fishing pole magnets could catch. I keep coming back to it being called "Don't Catch the Stinker" or something to that effect, but a Google search doesn't bring up any matches, so I may be on the wrong track name-wise. Man, this is gonna drive me bonkers! :^P

- Mike God I used to play that game all the time-- I may still have it in my parents attic-- and now you are going to make me have the same issues trying to figure out the name...
