The last time we caught up with writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson, it was on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth film in the Screen Gems series spawned from the Capcom video games. Since then, we've seen a teaser trailer make its premiere, giving us a sense of what's to come.
At WonderCon 2012 in Anaheim, California, ShockTillYouDrop.com reconnected with the man to find out where he's at in the production process and to discuss new creatures, opening up the "Resident Evil" world and those supposed flashbacks that were hinted at in the teaser.

Set to hit theaters this September, Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil: Retribution marks the fifth film in the popular video game-inspired film franchise. Always a hit at Comic-Con, Resident Evil looks to be moving into viral marketing terrority with an official website for the Umbrella Corporation that, in addition to frequent video appearances by Milla Jovovich's Alice, teases a mobile recruiting tour set to hit San Diego in the near future. The site's in-game press release reads as follows:

The tour kicks off in Cancun, Mexico in April 2012 and ends in Tokyo, Japan in September.
Founded by Ozwell E. Spencer and Edward Ashford, Umbrella Corporation is best known for creating Aqua Cure®, an ointment that rapidly heals open wounds. Utilizing products that are home grown in Raccoon City, Umbrella Corporation has since opened operations around the world and created many life-altering pharmaceutical products including Adravil®, Regenerate® and Return®.

To accomplish this unprecedented recruiting tour, a state-of-the-art vehicle has been created that will makes its way from location to location by land and sea. The vehicle is equipped with a fully functional research laboratory that will be manned by famous Umbrella Corporation scientists Dr. Henrik Markarian, Dr. James Safechuck, and Dr. Joshua Golsen.
"What will the world be like tomorrow?" Umbrella Corporation's Chief Operations Officer, Michelleanne Grepo, asks. "Thanks to Umbrella Corporation, 'tomorrow' is no longer a dream, but a reality today."
The tour claims to have already launched in Cancun, Mexico this past April and, while there's no dates listed, Cannes, France and Barcelona, Spain mark the locations of the recent Cannes Film Festival and the upcoming CineEurope.
Also starring Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Colin Salmon, Johann Urb, Boris Kodjoe and Li Bingbing, Resident Evil: Retribution arrives in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters on September 14th.

Sony Pictures announced today that Resident Evil: Retribution star Milla Jovovich will be participating in a live global streaming webchat leading up to the launch of the film's trailer on Thursday, June 14th at 11:00am EDT at the Regal Union Square Cinemas in New York.
Fans will be able to attend the event by logging on to Facebook.com/ResidentEvilMovie and printing out an invitation; admittance will be granted on a first come first serve basis. Fans at home can log on to that same Facebook page to watch the Q&A live; the event is being translated into ten languages worldwide. Fans can also submit their questions online at Facebook.com/ResidentEvilMovie for a chance to get it answered live by Milla. The full trailer will be posted online after the webchat.
