We were trying to think of a way to make the discussion around Toy Fair much more instantaneous, and when RTM decided to shutter their classic forum we figured it was a good idea to give the people what they want.

It'll only be up for the weeks around Toy Fair (before and after) and then archived until the next event.

So go start posting discussion there!

Personally, I used that board every day - the quick hit new topics allowed for a great central resource when breaking news hit, and I didn't have to filter through dozens of forum discussions. Thorough discussions are great, but I really appreciate being able to see all the news on one line. As usual, your mileage may vary.

I agree with the "that sucks" idea. If anything, that's more confusing than going through a thread. I'll stick to the Mattel forum and twitter for my toy fair updates.

Fair enough. To clarify - it's not meant to replace AFi, or any other forum...it's meant to enhance what's out there. I would usually hit the Buzz first-thing in the morning, see the news, and come here to discuss.

I will be posting news to both forums, so you won't miss anything by skipping it, but give a try, you might be surprised.

I want to second this; it's not meant as a general free for all board. It's a place to share toy fair news as it happens, in a more interactive format than, say, Twitter.

We will be posting toy fair news there ourselves as it's reported back from the con.

plus - whoever isn't fully satisfied will get a full refund.

There will be a dedicated section for TF2012 in our Gallery. But updates will be posted on this board as well as on the front page.

I'm just like 'Fly, especially around this time of year. I'd hit the the Buzz for all the latest news and feuding, then post here where far cooler heads prevail. So I go and check out the place yesterday only to find it newly moderated and crickets chirping everywhere.

The Buzz provided a cheap fix which I'll dearly miss. It's the first toy site I frequented upon initially going online in 2000. Matty Hell Days were actually fun just to see my fellow collectors tear their hair out while the Screen of Death had us racing against the clock. The various Matty clones were a clever bunch although I hardly posted there anymore due to all the trolling. I feel bad for its regular crowd, most of whom are a decent bunch of folks. Hope they find a new home soon.
