Not proof that minifigures are on the way or anything. Found pictured on the back of a comic included with the Wolverine's Chopper Showdown set. I couldn't find an image with a quick Google search and don't know how to take and upload pictures. A Spider-man set seems like a no-brainer licensing allowing though. Iron Fist might be kinda lonely if a Luck Cage isn't also forthcoming, but for comic-style legit Lego minifigures I'll be happy with what I can get.

Well they are listed as "Ultimate Spiderman" so that might be all that is needed to get them around any licensing issues for the movies.
Unfortunately, that means the figures won't necessarily be in a costume or form that long time readers will identify with ad might lead to some minor backlash as we've seen when a modern take on a character is used over the classic iteration in other toy lines.

Yep! There's a Spidey-Set coming. Those four-digit numbers are the LEGO set ID numbers.
As for it being Ultimate Spider-Man? Well, I dislike Marvel Ultimates of any sort. Not a fan. However, both Iron Fist and Spidey look like their Marvel Earth-616 versions, so I'm good. Doc Ock just might be good enough for me as well.

I assume that means they are taking them from the new cartoon series..(just like Clone Wars)-- once again Marvel will find another realm to eclipse DC in merchandising...

I saw it as being based on the Marvel Ultimate Spider-Man comic book. I don't really care too much. So long as the Marvel Spidey Lego mini figures are as close to the mainstream Marvel Universe comic book looks as possible. Even if that means they are Ultimates versions.

Wow... Spidey and the Avengers with someone as "obscure" as Iron Fist in the first batch while the DC line can only manage one set with Superman and Wonder Woman with the rest relying on Batman to sell them...

Iron Fist is in the Spidey set though ...
Maybe if DC were to put out a Batman set with Huntress or a Superman set with Booster Gold or a Legionnaire I might see it as a better comparison.
(but that's just me, an uber-pro-DC biassed fan to be sure)
Now if someone like Iron Fist were to anchor a set on his own .... Yeah, then I'd have to admit that Marvel is once again outdoing DC.
The bigger question though is: Who is responsible for the character selection in Lego sets? Does the licensor dictate what characters are available and should be included or does Lego make up a roster and then go for approval?
It might be part of why we see the DC sets be so Batman heavy ... everyone knows that Batman outsells everyone else?
... and since we are on the subject of characters: Why in the world is there no "Arcade" set for the Marvel side and no "Toyman" set for the DC side. Seems like such obvious choices ......

Holy cow would I be down for an Arcade or a Toyman based set! Arcade in particular seems like a great opportunity to get more X-Men out there.

Seems like such obvious choices ...... Ill give lego the benefit of the doubt-- since they only release about 20 sets per property the entire year (broken up in Jan/July-- usually) they arent ones to usually leave money on the table (and actually looks like they dump some of that profit back into design-- at least in the star wars line- the minifigs of today blow the ones from 10 years ago out of the water (just that small crown piece for Darth Maul makes a huge difference (like vintage sculpting to modern)

Well the ultimate spidey cartoon-- the "team" he is training with includes Iron Fist, Power Man, White Tiger and Nick Fury-- so maybe they are trying to take those characters mainstream as well...

And that logo used is the one for the new Ultimate SpiderMan animated series on DisneyXD.

I don't get DisneyXD, darnit.
***time elapsed, five minutes, while I searched the Internet for character designs for this new 'toon***
Okay, so it does indeed seem to be based on the Disney XD show...good call, Julius. While Spidey and Iron Fist look normal, I do not like the Power Man/Luke Cage designs. The White Tiger isn't too far off of the mainstream MU version, so she would be Howard the Duck approved in Lego form.
