Yes sir. I'm in.
Sure, Mattel have made a couple blunders. Sure they have.
But. Without them, I would not have the many, many amazing figures that I do. I can't tell you the joy I get from looking at my heaving shelves of DCUC. Mattel's getting leaned on to make loads of New 52 versions of their characters, and while I can understand DC's position on that, they're not the interpretations I'm looking for.
So. That leaves the sub as the only place to get non-V-necked versions of these amazing characters. I encourage every fan of 'classic' DC to sign up. The more people who do, the more likelihood of getting all-new tooled characters. Obviously you'll get a couple clunkers in the sub. Black Mask, for example, leaves me scratching my head, but I'm getting a Metron. IN HIS MOBIUS CHAIR.
Seems like a fair trade-off to me.
Yes sir. I'm in. And so should everyone else.

Stir in some New DC Angst and people are pissed. Great summary, and I think this is absolutely true. It's amazing to realize how well the various lines seemed to be going just a year ago, and how quickly things can change...

But that could be said about a lot of lines right now. Look at how Star Wars, Marvel Universe and GI Joe crashed in the last year. There's new product out there but there are reports everywhere of clogged pegs. We can jockey back and forth over the little details that Mattel screwed up with DC (and there have been some doozys, don't get me wrong), but looking at the whole action figure aisle, everything has stalled to some degree. Rising labor costs in China, the cost of oil to transport the product, retailers' need for higher profit margins and rising costs on things that people have to have vs what they want to have, I think, have all combined to create prices people have decided that they can't or won't pay.

The bold section above is really the key here. All of the other factors are important, but nothing is driving up the cost more right now than corporate greed.

I just might. It will be either Infinite Earths or Masters of the Universe Classics.

Nope. No subs. I hate them. I'm not buying something I don't want in order to get something I do. If there are any I want, I'll get them day of, or I'll order them off of a third party.

yes, I have every dcu figure to date, so there is no need to even know who is in the line.
That said, when they start re-releasing characters, that will be the last year I do the sub...unless it's Barda, she needs a new figure.

Nope. I'd rather spend 35.00 on Huntress than 450.00 on an entire sub of stinkers.

I have to agree. Rocket Red is the only one that's been revealed that I've been disappointed in.

Yeah. I don't think any of the figures in the sub are stinkers, and like I've said many times, I hate the Metal Men. But I have to tip my cap to the phenomenal job the 4H did on them. Rocket Red I don't care about one way or the other. He wouldn't even make my top 100 DC characters, so his scale doesn't even bother me.

I have a sub question: my card will be charged for the Flash tomorrow, right? Or is that figure already paid for?

Only Metron is "paid for". There was an initial charge for Flash to start the sub but it would've dropped the $15 plus shipping part of your total charge off a few days later. The shipment of Flash figures was delayed slightly so they may not charge for a few more days when they've actually got them in the DR fullfillment center.

If the initial figures shown look good and are characters I want, I will probably bite on another subscription, especially with the lack of items for me to spend my toy dollars on at retail lately.
Of the current subscription, the only ones I didn't want in the first place were Atrocitus and Rocket Red. I will stick Atrocitus with the Red and other Lanterns for as long as they continue to have shelf space. I have no idea what I am going to do with Rocket Red, especially the over-sized one we are getting, but I am happy with the rest of them so far.
