The old show doesn't hold a candle to the new one on the HUB. I love the new look on the cartoon, but the toy line seems to need customizing at home to make them more show accurate. Hair styles don't match the characters at all. Thank God I'm good with hair-cutting and perms.
And when will they put out an Applejack who actually comes with her cowgirl hat? That's when I'll buy one. I just started collecting.
3 down, 3 to go, so far.

I read a newspaper article about "Bronies", guys who like My Little Pony. I couldn't figure out what exactly was wrong with them, but something was horribly, horribly wrong.

It sounds like a lot of fun (and based on the Lauren Faust's work on Power Puff Girls and Super Best Friends Forever I don't doubt it for a minute), but I don't have access to The Hub. I do plan to buy the DVD when I get a chance... I'll post then (and, yes, it may get me to buy a set of the main ponies).

I just got back from TARGET and found 3 & 4 packs. I now have the 3 kids and the school teacher, Twilight Sparkle/Spike/Princess Celestia
I only need Princess Luna, Applejack, and Rarity now, and I'm done. Figures Rarity would be the hardest to find.

We've been watching the cartoon since it first aired on The Hub. I knew Tara Strong was voicing the lead character, and I'll give anything with her name in the credits a try. I love the series, and I have all the toys with sculpted, show-accurate manes and tails. Some fellas aren't quite secure enough in their masculinity to try anything that hasn't been pre-approved by corporate, gender-based marketing. Their loss.
And even better than the Hasbro toys are my handmade DJ PON-3 and Twilight plush.

I watch it with my daughter--she loves it and I enjoy it. I like the show designs, and I agree with An-Gel in that I wish they would make toys of the main characters from the show that really matched up with the animation better (like those custom plushies by the Plushie Champion of the World!! ). I think it's mostly the heads that just don't match the show enough for me. My daughter already had a bunch of MLP toys before this show started up. She's all excited right now to get a Princess Celestia toy.

It is a very cute show and my wife and I have had fun watching it. I did see a few figures from 2010 that were sculpted to better match the show but Hasbro is targeting a demographic which likes the real hair aspect.

Yeah, it is terrible for males to like things that are not macho. Can't be a sissy or nancy boy right? Gender stereotyping is not a mature thing.

I find it pretty odd, myself. Not necessarily terrible, though.
Gender is a real thing. XX for female and XY for male. I consider the genders different, but equal. Male and female are not (and should not be) interchangable.
If I had a son who was into MLP's instead of superheroes or robots, I'd be a little worried. Just being honest here.

So is ignorance.

Worried about what? That he's gay? That he's hetero, but in touch with his feminine side? That he's secure enough in his sense of self to like what he likes and not worry about people with outdated mental blocks on reality?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against gay people. I'm a live and let live kinda guy. There's probably been gay people for millions of years.
It's just not for me.
As far as reality goes, the two genders exist to procreate the species. That's just a simple biological fact. Political correctness isn't going to change that.
