Just got back from TRU. They were resetting the aisle and putting out Spiderman, BAtman and GI Joe movie stuff. Apparently they dropped the street date and have permission to get this stuff out ASAP.
Picked up all of the 1st wave of Joes plus the 3-packs , which seem like a steal at $19.99 versus $9.99 for individual figs. Passed on all of the vehicles.
Stopped at a local Walmart afterwards and they had remants of the first wave of Joes. Picked up another Cobra Trooper.

Not a Joe collector myself but I was looking forward to the movie. Just read that Paramount has pushed the film back 9 months to March of next year! How do you guys think that will affect the movie toy line? Will they be able to sell through it without a movie to advertise it? Will the stores get stuck with it like Mattel does with it's movie lines that eventually get canceled because they don't sell? Here is the link to the news.

This has the potential to be one of the all-time spectacular franchise screw-ups.
As bummed as I am, I also have a completely morbid fascination to see how it turns out. Will the first couple waves languish on store shelves and spoil like rotten fruit? Will later waves be held back and released in March, and will any casual fans still care at that point? Will the latest waves (guys like Night Viper and Crimson Guard) ever see the light of day?

If this keeps me from getting my Adrianne Palicki action figure I will be very, VERY cross with Hasbro.

Exactly! I just can't understand how a franchise that relies so heavily on a toy line could screw this part up so badly. Heck, if that would at least decided this earlier Hasbro could have held the product until March.

I know they are saying it's because they are going to spend that time converting it to 3-D... but there's just no way that's true. There's too much in place, too many wheels in motion to pull it at the 11th Hour like that for that reason.
It's much more likely that Paramount/Hasbro were spooked beyond reason at how The Avengers TROUNCED Battleship. They looked ahead and saw the potential of the same thing happening to GIJoe: Retaliation by both "Dark Knight Rises" and "Amazing Spider-man"

Heck, at this rate, they could be afraid that Avengers will still be #1 by the end of June.
But yeah, 3D is absolutely not the deciding factor here. Part of it is fear of competition, I'm sure, but it's also very possible (much as I'd prefer not to think it) that the finished product just reeks on ice and they need the extra time to retool it.

With all this wondrous news of the movie, I'm surprised the server hasn't crashed over at Hisstank.

In welcome G.I. Joe news, scored the entire first wave of Retaliation figures at Target tonight. God bless their DPCI system and their employees who don't care about street dates.

I wonder if wave one will sell well enough (now that it no longer has a media tie-in) for us to ever see the subsequent waves at retail?

I'm semi-optimistic about wave 2, at least, if for no other reason than BBTS' pre-order lists them with the same May 28 street date as wave 1.
(Of course, their wave 1 case showed up early while 2 did not, so take that as you will)
But as for Lady Jaye, Jinx, and Joe Colton, their fates are up in the air as far as I'm concerned.

Hey guys, how well do these fit with the newer MU ie... Cyclops. I was just thinking with double knees that they would have to be taller.

I was at TRU today and found some of the new Retaliation singles. I picked up Snake Eyes but held off on the other ones.
