Eli Roth May Sire Dracula Tale Harker

Source: ComingSoon, Deadline

July 10, 2012

Things have been relatively quiet for Eli Roth on the feature film directing front, last having helmed 2007's Hostel: Part II. That looks set to change in the near future, however, as (in addition to his upcoming The Green Inferno), Roth is in talks to direct the "Dracula" tale Harker.

The script arrives as a spec from Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy and is said to relocate Stoker's tale to England where Jonathan Harker is tracking the monster on behalf of Scotland Yard.

Russell Crowe is attached to headline the project and, while he was originally thought to be playing the Harker role, the site reveals that the actor is actually attached to play Dracula himself.

Production on Harker would likely take place next year with The Green Inferno shooting later this fall.

Etan Cohen to Rewrite Ghostbusters 3

Source: ComingSoon

July 10, 2012

ComingSoon.net has learned that Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3 screenwriter Etan Cohen has signed on to rewrite Ghostbusters 3 . The news arrives just a week after Dan Aykroyd reported that the project had added new writing talent.

Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky wrote the previous draft, which is expected to bring back together the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, although Murray has been a notorious holdout, not wanting to participate until the script is perfect.

Aykroyd previously confirmed reports that the plot will revolve around a new generation of Ghostbusters and hinted at the states of his and Ramis' characters.

"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the cadillac," he said, "He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs... Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation."

Breck Eisner Eyes Stretch Armstrong

by SuperHeroHype

July 10, 2012

Having announced plans to move forward with the property earlier this year, Relativity Media appears to be interested in having Breck Eisner helm Stretch Armstrong. The Hollywood Reporter has the update, indicating that The Crazies director is in talks to adapt the Hasbro propetty.

Dean Georgaris (The Manchurian Candidate, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) is set to provide the screenplay, aiming for a slightly more serious angle than was the original intention for the character.

Still planned for a April 11, 2014 release, Stretch Armstrong is based on the iconic action hero figure first launched by Hasbro in 1976 and re-launched in the 90’s.

No other talent is currently attached (though a former iteration of the project would have starred Taylor Lautner), but check back for details as they become available.

Games: Arkham City Follow-Up to Feature the Justice League?

by SuperHeroHype

July 11, 2012

Get ready for this one folks, this will knock your socks off...

Variety is reporting that there are already plans in place for a follow-up to last year's highly revered and very successful game Batman: Arkham City. The proposal from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment for the developer Rocksteady is to include the Justice League within the game in some capacity. There is speculation that this is due in part to Warner Bros. wanting to make the Justice League a bigger presence before finally making a movie.

The game is said to be a prequel to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and details Batman's first encounter with the Joker. It will also be highly influenced by the 1950s "Silver Age" comic books of all the characters.

There is no official word from Rocksteady on this account, but the game is said to be gearing up for an early 2014 release date.

Comic-Con: Poster for Marvel Studios' Item 47

by SuperHeroHype

July 11, 2012

Marvel Studios' all new One-Shot Item 47 is gearing up to be the biggest and coolest of them all, much like its parent movie The Avengers. The short film will be on the Blu-ray/DVD for The Avengers when it is released on September 25.

There will be a secret screening of the short this Friday at Comic-Con and Marvel Studios will be giving out a poster below to all attendants. You can check it out below, thanks to EW. The short is described as follows:

Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford star as a down-on-their-luck couple who find one of the discarded alien guns from the finale to The Avengers — and proceed to make some incredibly bad decisions.

Two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (Maximiliano Hernández, returning from Thor and The Avengers, and Lost’s Man in Black Titus Welliver, making his Marvel debut) are given the job of cleaning up the mess and stopping this modern Bonnie and Clyde (not coincidentally named Benny and Claire.)

Daughtry and DC Release Single Rescue Me on iTunes

by SuperHeroHype

July 11, 2012

Chris Daughtry has teamed up with the Justice League and DC Entertainment to release the newly recorded acoustic rendition of the band’s original song “Rescue Me” to benefit the WE CAN BE HEROES campaign to end hunger in the Horn of Africa. On sale today and available exclusively on iTunes here, all net proceeds from “Rescue Me” go directly to provide relief in the region.

“You don’t need to be a super hero to help make a difference and be part of the greater good,” said lead singer Chris Daughtry. “The people in the Horn of Africa need us and every little bit helps, it’s as easy as downloading a song. If you’ve ever wanted to be super hero — now’s your chance.”

“The mission of WE CAN BE HEROES is to raise awareness for and support of the over eight million people in need of immediate assistance in the Horn of Africa,” said Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment. “Daughtry’s iTunes release of this new version of ‘Rescue Me’ will provide support and donations for three incredible humanitarian aid organizations that are helping fight this hunger crisis in the Horn. We are so thankful that Chris has joined us in this important cause."

The Legend of Korra Renewed for Second Season

by SuperHeroHype

July 11, 2012

The hit Nickelodeon show The Legend of Korra will continue on into a second season, according to EW. While the series is already slated to return next year as Season 1 Book 2, a second season has now officially received the green light.

The series, from Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, takes place 70 years after the events of The Last Airbender and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra. With three of the four elements under her belt (Earth, Water, and Fire), Korra seeks to master the final element, Air. Her quest leads her to the epicenter of the modern "Avatar" world, Republic City – a metropolis that is fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive. However, Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart. Under the tutelage of Aang's son, Tenzin, Korra begins her airbending training while dealing with the dangers at large.

The series is voiced by Janet Varney, Kiernan Shipka, Daniel Dae Kim, David Faustino, Seychelle Gabriel, Lance Henriksen, P.J. Byrne and J.K. Simmons.
