I've been going back to collecting vintage stuff since the recent Marvel Universe/G.I. Joe drought began and the next line on my list is Robotech, both the original Matchbox and later Harmony Gold reissues. This was one of those lines which I somehow skipped back in the 80's but the figures are still relatively inexpensive to this day. Having watched some bits and pieces of the series, I only have the backstory sources to fall back upon but it all sounds like one cool mega epic, much like Star Wars. I've been lucky over the past few weeks and managed to land all of the common figures who warmed the pegs during their retail days. So far, the only truly rare ones seem to be Rook Bartley, Roy Fokker, Rick Hunter, Scott Bernard and Lunk, who is likely the Holy Grail here. I know that Lynn Minmay went unproduced during the Matchbox run but finding her Harmony Gold counterpart proved easy enough. I recently spotted Roy and Scott on the Harmony Gold cards and have my eye on those, (although the HG version of Roy is missing his helmet!) but Rook and Lunk seem to be virtually non-existent at this time. Most of the larger figures are also becoming scarcer, with Breetai the only one I've found as of this writing. So my question for you guys is: Has anyone on here collected Robotech in recent years or have any info to share regarding the line's availability? Thanks!

Are you only collecting the figures? There are a ton of mecha issued in this line in various scales as well and those are the more expensive items. Of the 6" figures, there is a Miriya that is the hardest to find, the rest are more common but the 6" Zentraedi Warrior can cost a bit more because frankly it's the nicest of them.

I'm only collecting the figures right now but might include figure-compatible mecha such as the Veritech Fighters later on. And I would love to get the SDF-1 Playset someday!
That large Zentraedi Warrior with the helmet is going to be tough to find, right along with Miriya.

I keep losing that damn playset on ebay everytime it comes up. My bid of $650 wasn't enough when that last one came up a month ago. Ugh!!

I haven't even looked for it! I figure no matter what I find, it's gonna be way out of my price range.

Do you have a photo of this playset? I'll keep an eye out for ya! Never know what I might find last year it was the batcave at flea market.

Holy cow. I never knew there was an SDF 1 playset. I'd love it, but yeah $700 is high.

I still need Rook Bartley, Lunk, the large Miriya and Armoured Zentraedi Warrior to complete my set. It's been surprisingly easy to find the others within just a few months.

I remember finding a toy stall at a market in the UK in the mid 90s which was selling almost the whole line of the Harmony Gold Robotech line for mere pennies. Carded, great condition. Picked up all they had. The same stall also had a bunch of vintage Mumm-Ra figures in the mailer baggies, and the vintage Kenner Emperor figure, also in mailer baggies... for about $1 per figure. Those were the days.

I've never been a fan of the line. The sculpts are so horrible. I prefer the CMs figures that have come out. They are more or less in scale with each other and they are really awesomely sculpted. The only issue is that any of the main characters that you would find are in their Do You Remember Love flight suits instead of their TV ones.
How hard was it to find a Dana Sterling figure? I've been debating getting one to go with my hovertank.
