The Mattypalooza panel is on Friday, so I wouldn't expect to see anything new before then.

When the announced All-Stars line was pre-emptively cancelled and this wave of 4 figures was announced, it was revealed in several QnA's and conversations that this will be the "last DCUC wave", effectively a "wave 21".
This was done in an effort to be a place holder until the new retail line was ready to announce and solicit.
It was announced several times that it would start shipping in August.
Why is it being packaged in the DCUC blisters a surprise? Geez, sorry. I read a lot of toy news but I don't read every Q and A. I'm not acting surprised about the packaging itself, just wondering if these are actually going to be in stores. I've been on the AFI forum long enough to know that others here have gone through periods of confusion concerning The last DCUC Wave/ All-Stars / Wave 21 and the exact offering and where they will be sold, so it shouldn't be outrageous that I bring something up. In fact , I know these details. I just expressed confusion and fear that Mattel will work out a situation with retailers to actually get these toys on the shelf when A) most of My Walmarts don't carry any DC toys and B.) Target just got rid of them all and movie toys have taken up all the space. and C.) Retailers have backed away from lots of Mattel comic convention offerings, before and after production, so yeah, I'm a just a wee-bit trepidatious. But hey, apparently retailers wanted this set, so maybe I'll find them. Maybe I don't understand why Wave 19 and 20 are not placeholders. Some waves place-held for years. Just thinking out loud.

sorry man, didn't mean to sound all snarky and belligerent. I'll take blame for that and apologize appropriately. I'm really not concerned about these figures getting back out to the pegs. Yes, my Targets, Walmarts, and TRUs seem to be making a very concerted effort to get rid of all lingering DC product before the next round of resets. But even if these figures don't have dedicated shelf space, I am sure the will fit into the flex space and make it out to enough venues that I'll be able to pick them up without much hassle (if I decide that I still want to that is ).

I believe Matty has already gone on record as stating the figure was based on and approved by WB/DC's control art department.
They've already shuffled the blame on to someone else so to speak...

It looks like Uncle Sam will be out in the sub later in the fall. Huh. That's quite a surprise.

The perfect end-of-year figure, he's fan-demanded (he's gotten a pretty good showing here in the past) but he is not "sub-bait". Well played!
(EDIT: I actually got the e-mail this time!)

I like the early reveal via email and I like the figure. I hope he's not the only freedom fighter that comes our way though.
